(Somebody else asked that a week ago , so .....)
Probably what he was before politics .
He was a swindler , a la Ken Lay . Maybe partly why he was a pal of 'ol Kenny Boy . His deals were all insider-sweetheart deals , where somebody got ripped off . There were actual Enron-style scams, except for millions, not billions . Then there was the Texas Rangers stadium thing . Too many bouncing balls to describe here , without writing a book . Suffice it to say that public money was used to enrich private individuals ; Bush & the rest of the ownership, and later , the current owners , Tom Hicks & L. Hughes ( the principle owners of Clearchannels ) . Also, landowners around the project got robbed by emminent domain , with the land and (& the profits) going to Bush & the boys .
To be fair , Bush probably wasn't the driving force behind any of it , but he didn't turn down the $ either . He probably was essential though, because of his connections . Some of it was legal , some wasn't . What wasn't , was made legal, or ignored , due to his and others' influential connections . Bush might be the biggest crook to ever make it to the White House , at least by total $ stolen . ( I know , I know - Whitewater .That however was "only " $300-400k, and wasn't a deliberate attempt to steal . It was improper loans, ie, use , & loss of other people's money . The principles lost their own money too . Wrong , but a drop in a Bush bucket . & I do count THEM as crooks, but this is a question about our current criminal. ;D)
