My guess is that Alfred Nobel is absolutely spinning in his grave. Do you think he ever foresaw a time when this highly valued award would be used as nothing but a Political tool?

It has occurred to me that what the conservatives need is a NORTHERN strategy. They already have the south - sure, maybe the religious fundamentalists won't work as hard as they did for Bush, but maybe they don't have to. If Giuliani can pickup PA, NJ, maybe some New England states, keep the rocky mountain states from bolting, he should be a shoe in. He could still loose Florida, CA, NY and win.

For the slob, loutish behaviour of the so called British sports fans who booed and jeered the USA National Anthem at the recent Mayweather V Hatton fight in LA.
I was very embarrassed and so were my Family, as we have to remember we are Allies fighting a so called war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
This unfortunately is the way many of the UK male sports fans are when they have had to much drink.
Please dont think we are all the same

One social worker said I have a history of violence for defending myself when 2 people attacked me. I kicked them in self-defense, so she said I have a history of violence, & I'm a violent person. I only fight BACK when someone attacks me 1st. I used to take Tae Kwon Do karate lessons for self-defense training & discipline.

A major topic of discussion in the New Orleans area of late has been whether or not to demolish some low income housing units. They look very bad and have been like that for a long time. My question is, is there a way to fix poverty, just here in the U.S.? The people that live off the government for years and years must be made to get off the free boat. I can understand someone being "helped" for a maximum of 3 years, but you're not suppose to be on there forever. I think you have to find a way to change the culture. The Orleans Parish public schools have traditionally been horrible, but I don't think it's the student's fault. I think the parents of children nationwide should have to push their children to succeed, and be involved in helping them. People being helped should be actively trying to find a job, not getting into trouble with the law, and their kids should be held to a minimum GPA. I think this is a major problem that must be fixed. Does anyone agree?

People have freedom of choice. If the choices they make cause them to be put into negative circumstances, how is it the responsibility of the government to take money by force from the people who make good financial decisions and redirect it to the people who make poor choices?

In this kind of system, responsibility will never be encouraged because people will never have to face starvation and death for the poor choices they've made. If compassion is necessary, why can't individuals and charities do it with donations instead of the government doing it with taxes?

You can argue that capitalism and the free market isn't fair but stealing from those who have earned their wealth is not exactly fair either.

People must work to earn their living. If they can't find work in one location, it is their responsibility to relocate. It simply isn't fair that I will have to live my entire life paying for people who won't work. If I want to help someone, it should be my choice.

In most cities that have a black mayor, there seems to be a black entourage with them all the time. If Obama is elected do you think he will have a black entourage surrounding him? Will his appointed staff be mostly black?

My brother and I were at a bar, but when I left, he stayed behind (he was making friends and what not). My brother is 21, but I'm 19 years old (still they served me alcohol without ID-ing me). Anyway, I spoke to him @ 10pm, and he was fine, as did my father at 11pm. At 2am, I received a call from the police saying that he had gotten into a 'little altercation, and that he was sleeping, so that I shouldn't bother to get him until the next day.' Well, I wasn't going to be able to go back to sleep after hearing that, so I went to go pick him up, and got to the hospital at 4AM. When I got there, he was separated in a room away from the other patients, with an officer outside of his room. He was handcuffed to the bed, restrained with a vest that was attached to the bed, as well as sedated with Adavan and something else (started with an 'H'). He was completely unresponsive. He had a nice shiner coming in on his right eye/cheek, a lump over his left eyebrow, an abrasion above his (cont'd)
