White phosphorus was and is still used today in rounds for concealment( Smoke), marking and spotting. It can be in grenades, mortar, air delivered bombs, artillery and rocket rounds.

Use of WP as an anti-personnel weapon is considered by most to be in violation of the Geneva Convention. When used by aircraft delivered bombs in Viet Nam it was usually used as a smoke screen.

Yes, aside from being used in airstrikes there were even WP artillery rounds that were in use during the Vietnam conflict and still used today.
