I'm working on a settlement with a hospital. I can't go into details, but I was in the ICU for two days and the recovery unit for 5 days following a tubal legation gone bad. This was immediately following the birth of my 3rd son. Despite the exploratory surgery, the pain from that (among other things) and being in the hospital for a week I also missed out on the first week of my sons birth (including not being able to breastfeed). I also had to make arrangements with family to help out with the other two children.

Are there any kinds of guidelines to figure out how much to ask for "pain and suffering"? I don't feel comfortable asking for ridiculous amounts of money, but I do feel like I deserve a fair amount.

I got my idienty stolen recently. I was pissed and the police were like well we really cant catch them leaglly. Well my brother is really good with computers and he thinks that he might of tracked down who did it and so he wants to hack into their computer and release a virus that will destroy all of their files and stuff. And the police said that if he did that he could be arrested and thrown in jail. I think that is such bull! Anyone else agree?

I always hear about a candidates values, character and decision making ability. I would like to here actual plans of action and solutions to problems. I dont care about your values, I want to know what you plan to do about healthcare and how you will handle inflation. Do americans really feel thats ones character is more important than the actual problems facing this country? Dont good solutions to the problems indicate wether or not someone can deal with future issues weel too?

Hi, I am employeed by 1 of 2 contracting companies that work for the US Government at particular location. I tried switching to work for the other contracting company (who said they would gladly accept me) but they turned around and said they couldn't hire me. The reason being is that goverment bosses here deemed me to be too important at my current job, so they are basically disallowing me to switch to the other company. I myself am not held to any contract and could quit outright if I wanted too... Anyway, ok here comes my question! What type of crime has taken place? The governent bosses (and my current bosses have taking advantage of a position of power over me. My free will to work for the other company is not possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated! thank you!

The deceased died age 100 years leaving a Will. The next-of-kin (daughter, only surviving child) has been left a small fixed monetary legacy. There are two Executors. One is an lady in her eighties. The other is a retired Solicitor, who also held Power of Attorney for the deceased and administered her financial affairs for many years. He is a significant residuary beneficiary of the Estate. Probate has been granted and the estate is now being distributed. The Executors will only pass the minimum information to the family, each of whom has been left a small monetary legacy. A copy of the Will was obtained with difficulty and the size of the Estate, £500,000 was only discovered from instigating a search.

I was on jury duty recently.

When it came down to discussing intent, I thought a loaded pistol proved intent to use it. After all, why else would the robber use a loaded gun if they did not plan to fire it? The robber could have used an unloaded weapon. The argument put forward was that the robber used the weapon accidentally when the person being robbed fought back. The argument is that the robber had the right to defend himself against the victim (that was killed).

Is it fair to think there was an intent here?

I get the impression that a lot of Americans dislike Canadians because they assume most Canadians are liberal, but not all are. I live in a small town in southern Ontario and most people here think we should be allowed to own guns (a lot already own guns) and that homosexual marriage is wrong.

So not all Canadians are bad.

My brother got violent with me because I didn't let him use my computer. He tried to call the cops on me, punched me, & I told him that if necessary, I'll pepper spray him. Then he threatened to twist my neck.

I never knew that protecting my property was a crime. The reason why I didn't let him use it was because he said the reason was personal-dealing with my family, if it's personal, then that means they're up to no good. So when he said the reason for wanting to use my computer was personal, I suspected he was going to do illegal online activity. He just went out the box because he's paranoid schizo who refuses to seek psychiatric help & tells everyone else they need help.

***If you were a cop who arrived on the scene, how would you handle this situation?

Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson, Hilary Clinton and many others campaign with their spouse and children. Why haven't we seen Giuliani out there with his wives and kids, or Huckabee, who talks about family values a lot? Or is Huckabee running solely on his religion?

well the price of fuel has gone way above that old threshold price. why are we just sitting doing nothing. "hanging on in quiet desperation is the english way!" i'm starting to believe that. why are we not forcing the government to drop the duty on fuel again. we did so well last time. a little hardship got us what we wanted, and wiped that smug grin off the governments faces. "all together now!"

I'm a big fan of Obama, and of Oprah, but was disappointed by Oprahs support of Obama. In her speeches for Obama, she clearly wasn't talking how she typically does on her show. It was nothing short of pandering, and I didn't like it. What do you guys think of her speeches for Obama?

I was questioned by the police and was told i would be arrested unless i gave them a statement. They said all i needed to do was give them a statement and i could go home. So i wrote the statement , and gave it to them then they said i could go home. About 2 weeks later i get a letter from the court saying i need to appear, and theres 5 charges against me. Can they use my statement against me if i wasent aware of my right? I know that they only have to read my rights if im arrested. But can them threatening me and tricking me into writing this statement be used in court, I was also under the influence of alcohol and marajuana at the time.
Thank you

It seems only one Democrat and six Republicans are sponsoring this Fair Tax bill. Why?

This is a great way to radify the 16th ammendment and I think this is fantastic. I wish they had this here in Canada. We have the Federal Income Tax, Canadian Pension Plan Tax, Employment Insurance Tax and two sales taxes.

This is a true traditional Conservative policy!
