I think it's interfering with our privacy rights. What ever happened to the Constitutional Rights and the Bill of Rights? What's the point of the Constitution when the federal government breaks it all the time? Why have laws if they can just break them at their will? Also, I feel that everyone has a right to their privacy in their own home, i.e. their phone lines since they pay for the service. However, I feel that when it comes to email, email is an internet source that is basically public since anyone can crack into it, so that's not just the government spying on you.

In my case, I don't break the law, so I really don't care in the end what they do or don't do.

This is one of the largest misconceptions brought up by the Patriot Act of 2001, The domestic spying that you mention was first authorized by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978, all this still requires either a warrant or court order to be done. Read the report cited in the reference

Hey if the Patriots can do it and not get into that much trouble then it must be okay for our own GOVERNMENT to spy on us. What ever happened to "the land of the free". The glory of days of this country are over as long as we have assclowns like Bush in office. His dad should have done us all a favor and pulled out!!

Sinclair Lewis once said: 'When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross.'

Our government has progressively grabbed more power over the years, and the Bush administration has virtually turned America into a police state by creating false fears about 'terrorism' and the need for "God" to protect our "patriotism'. Like lobsters languishing in a pot of lukewarm water, we will not start screaming in agony over our own apathy until the water starts boiling over. Then it will be too late. -RKO- 12/10/07

I don't think I'm that interesting for the government to spy on me. Anyway, I'm not doing anything wrong, so I do not worry about it.

Not Caring what they do or dont do is unacceptable. Soon it will be another liberty lost but I suppose as long as you can still go to Starbucks then it's OK. This war on the "fear of fear" to put it in litteral terms is bogus and nothing more than a perpeutal scare tactic designed to make you WANT to give up rights to be secure. As Benjamin Franklin said, "Those who would give up essential liberties for a little bit of security, deserve neither and will lose both."

You all have a much higher chance of being hit by a bus than by being killed by a terrorist......whatever the hell that is.

I think it is a violation of rights to privacy and should not be allowed without good reason and a warrant. Government has too much power and should be made to abide by the laws!

Gee they must be bored, but then again they need something to waste our tax dollars on. Would'nt want to spend any of it on giving people decent housing or education, or job training that could actually benefit people enough to not need welfare. I'm sure we can all think of more. In the meantime enjoy and do pay your taxes maybe it will actually benefit someone somewhere,sometime--oh, other than those who already have more than they need I mean.

I think if we didn't want this to happen, we shouldn't have written into the privacy act "with the exception of for the national defense"
