Sexual orientation is a choice and as such cannot be discriminated against only disapproved of.

Edited: Bert T being the incredibly good-looking man I am, many gay men have "hit-on" me and I have "chosen" not to go that way. So in fact I have chosen heterosexuality. I even had an incredibly good-looking transsexual proposition me and chose to remain heterosexual. It is 100% a choice who we choose to sleep with. There are many women I wouldn't ever consider having a relationship or liaison with even though I am attracted to women. That "when did you choose to be straight" argument is so tired it is laughable. I find it an insult to gays that you people think they have 0 choice over there behavior, it is degrading and demeaning to homosexuals to assume that they cannot control their urges. I expect more from you Bert, I really do.

Definitely discriminatory! And, yeah, even if you just get married to live with your college roommate "platonically" it should still be allowed. Only opposite sex couples who sleep with each other should have the legal benefits of marriage? You should be able to choose your mate, whatever sex they may be, for whatever reason you want. Some people bring up the argument - What's next? Letting people marry their dogs? I say, why not? What's it to you?

I think married couples should have the same rights as gay couples, to just dissolve the relationship without going to court and spending thousands on lawyers.

People have made discrimination into something bad but it distorts the meaning. You are discriminant about who you are friends with, you you sleep with, what clothes you wear and so on...
Marriage was supposed to be about children- a man and a woman marry, procreate and raise children which is to the benefit to the survival of society (species actually). Like it or not, gay people cannot have children with each other. I know some will say that straight people divorce a lot which is true but just because an institution is struggling doesnt mean you just ignore its intentions.
Any two or more people can file papers to inherit property, have power of attorney and all that other stuff. I do agree that hospitals and such should not keep a partner from seeing their partner because "they arent family" but I doubt that happens much anymore.
Marriage is about more than just "loving" someone, it is an institution designed and honored for the procreation and raising of future generations. Sorry if that offends but it is true

Marriage is, in every sense of the word, a legal contract between two adult citizens.

For any group to say that one segment of society cannot enter into that contract is very discriminitory and should be considered an unenforcable law.

And what kind of a crazy world is this, when I actually agree with something ret roch cop says?

I agree with civil unions or some sort of contract but not marriage.

It takes a man and a woman to make a child. Or male and female.
I believe that was God's intent. And so a marriage is husband and wife. Man and Woman. Not same sex.

Of course it's discriminatory. It's also discriminatory not to allow 12 year olds to marry.

But if you mean UNFAIRLY discriminatory, then yes, I do believe it's unjust. It's disrcimination on the basis of sex alone.

Yes, and I think that gay couples should have to go through all the same things that married couple have to go through, like divorce, etc.
