No insurance rate hike or DMV record addition.

$29 for a toll?!?!?! What bridge were you on, for golly's sake? Seems to me it should be more like $2 (certainly not over $10). I'm not aware of any bridge in CA that would cost that much to cross.

At any rate, no, it's not like getting a ticket...It won't go on your record. It happens all the time, really, especially in a state like CA, where we don't have toll roads like they do back East. It's just a bill for the toll, which will go away once you've paid it.

Call the Toll Plaza & tell them what happened; they may be able to assist you, or at least give you the Address to mail it in to the State, IMMEDIATELY, to avoid being sent that fine. You could also get a Pre-paid Card or else a Sun-Pass, to avoid this, which is, by no means, anything new; several people has ran into this problem.

What a jerk! You can usually tell Bay Area toll takers that you don't have the money on you and they will give you an envelope to send it in. $29 is ludicrous... I've had friends who have done this at numerous locations so I don't know why this guy would have made you spend that kind of $$.

A bill is not the same as a ticket. If you got a ticket, your insurance would go up.
