Its something I am wondering as well. I don't know the answer. But I know that Oprah has a large following. Perhaps as large or larger then allot of the candidates running for president of the United States. The question is do people consider her opinion valuable on matters of State. Some will but some will also consider Obama foolish for elevating her counsel to the point of National importance. I personally think it will help him some and he has timed it well because all he has to do is get nominated for now and that is soon. The star power he has added to his campaign is a temporary boost but that is all he needs for now.

The thing that frustrates me is that Oprah probably will draw Obama a big public. And that's so sad because she turns politics and serious political issues into a circus show. Yahoo just posted an article in response to the Des Moines leg of the tour and in interviews with some of the people that showed up there, people said that they showed up because they loved Oprah. One woman joined Obama's campaign when before she was ambivalent and another couple said that they will vote in the caucas for the 1st time ever or like 18 years. These people don't value him because of what he is saying but value him because of who he has standing next to him.

The money and the following that Oprah brings can't be discounted. She reaches a large female, middle to lower class audience. Surveys and statistics show that most Americans are not involved in politics and do not know the issues in this election or what is going on in the government but they do know Oprah. And as much as we may scoff and feel disgusted by what she is doing, if she taps into the 50% of the non-voting population, she may be the deciding force between Hillary and Obama. Doesn't that make everyone feel great about where this country is headed?

The biggest mistake Hillary's camp can make is to dismiss the impact Oprah Winfrey has on Obama's campaign. Many, many white women love Oprah. She is providing them with a way to not support the female candidate (that they really do not like very much) and vote for the black candidate and feel good about doing so.

This is potentially HUGE! For Obama.

I am a Conservative and would much rather have a Conservative run against Hillary. Hillary is easier to debate since she has a record and a long history that provides lots of ammunition. She is also easily knocked off balance.

Obama has little to recommend him but if he is attacking the Republican candidate what can the Republican do but point out his inexperience and lack of a accomplishment. But you can only do that so often before you sound like a broken record. If you attack Obama personally you are a racist so forget going there.

Hillary is a far better enemy. She is a huge target.

I think that Oprah will bring people into the political process, who would not usually be involved. She has credibility that is more far reaching than most celebrity types like George Clooney. Her credibility comes from the fact that her audience watches her every day. People connect with her and follow her. She recommends a book. They buy it.She says don't do this, they listen. I think she will be effective for Obama in Iowa.If he uses her too much, then he will be Oprah's boy, which will devalue his standing with the voters. So, look to see a scenario where she mentions him on her show and does some ads for him. If she persuades half of her audience to vote for him, it would mean an automatic 10% boost in every primary contest that he enters. This by far is the most interesting and intriguing event of the 2008 campaign.

I hope it hurts him.

I pray for the good of the country that Oprah Winfrey doesn't have the power to choose the president.

I think it helps a lot. The people who are crazy about Oprah will follow her advice. And other people will at least listen to what she has to say. So he get some consideration that the didn't have before.

It will help him. All of politics in this country is a circus, so Oprah is no better or worse. She will help because she has a huge loyal fan base.

You'd be surprised at how many people actually despise Oprah so it could hurt his campaign. But I doubt that he will get the nomination anyway.

Obamba scares me, his recommendations and how he thinks. i desire anybody see it the comparable. the different day he promised to "hearth anybody interior the administration" and hire his very own people and "do it his way" It sounds greater like Argentinas Chevez speaking. Now Oprah has jumped on the band wagon. Why? I see the growing to be of Black activists and something we would in comparison to down the line.

I don't believe it will do a lot of good or bad. Certainly she will have some small influence on the decisions of some but most people merely find it amusing.
