do you really want the truth or do you want to hear what you want to hear? Do the police departments really want to hire an ignorant person with no life experience. Why do they hold juvenile records or drug use against you as an adult and if it is past 7 or more years? is there really enough innocent people, i think not... why would every department be hiring all the time? demographical reasons.. no.. because of all the baby boomers retireing.. no... what is the truth behind hiring police officers? ive asked many officers these questions. they told me they lied about drug use or other stuff... how do they get away with it? why did you hire cops who kill their family or use drugs or are succeptable to the corruption of society rather than hire some one who has been in the corruption and has raised through it?

My friend's home was recently burglarized. Aside from the obvious (police report, insurance, get new alarm system), what else should he be doing?

Any ideas of how to get the police more involved? They seem somewhat apathetic. Maybe because they have bigger crimes to solve.

What about mitigating the risk of a follow-up robbery? I've heard that it's common for a home to burglarized multiple times. The burglar waits for the insurance claim money to be spent on new things. Any thoughts on how avoid follow-up robberies?

Are women brainwashed to believe they are only good for Playboy or making babies?

Seems like many women(even men) are catty towards each other and cannot accept females as authority figures.
Cause if that wasnt the case there would have been at LEAST 1 woman President in America by now.......since the year America, land of the free and equal was born.

Over 200 years of "free and equal" and no woman President yet? hmmmmmmmmmmmm interesting.

And for those who are slow and will point out that women havent had the right to vote until recently...........THAT's exactly my point. It isnt free and equal then..... is it?????

I showed up for work today and was taken back to the stockroom so the lost prevention manager could have a sit-down with me. He talked in the beginning about all the different thefts and stuff that happen at work, and began asking about the things I've stolen. I knew they had proof it was me, although they never flat out accused me or threatened me. So, I was completely honest in everything. I stole at least $200 worth since I've worked there and told them that.

In my description to the L.P. Supervisor, I mentioned (and this is entirely true) about how I have a major problem with stealing, and most of the time I can't even remember doing it until I get home and find the stuff I've taken. I also mentioned how I can't afford therapy sessions and don't know any other way to get help, but I desperately want and need it. Which is still true.

Anyway, I've been suspended from work now and said I'd get a call. What's going to happen to me?

If you are an entertainer, Political Bias is understandable, and as a citizen entertainer...its your right. However, I see alot of intentional political bias in the media. Especially on the left lately... This troubles me because I want to watch the news to hear .... well...THE NEWS!!! Not some SLANT on the news spoon-fed to me by some politically motivated hack disguised as a Journalist, who thinks Im stupid enough to take his word as gospel on a topic that conveniently demonizes a idealogical or political opponent...
Im curious, is anyone else out there troubled by the media's political bias particularly in election years? Dont you think they should just report the news like JOURNALISTS are supposed to report it, and not manufacture a story based on whatever fits their political template at the moment?
Dont you think politics belongs OUTSIDE Profesional Journalism?
Whats your opinion of it? Am I the only one who sees how obvious it is at times?

Why wouldn't they just say he wasn't informed? When someone in the Bush Admin says "I don't recall", usually it means "it happened but I'm not going to admit it".

Do you think Bush honestly doesn't recall whether he was informed about this, or is he simply refusing to admit it? Or are members of the Bush Admin so used to saying "I don't recall" that it's the default answer?

Amnesty International has issued an urgent appeal calling on its members to write letters to the Republic of Iran asking them not to stone seven women.

Nearly all of the women have been sentenced to die by stoning for adultery. Officially Iran had placed a moratorium on the cruel and painful practise in 2002, but Amnesty claims sentencing continues. The group has received credible reports that two people were stoned to death in May.

The United Nations Human Rights Committee has ruled that treating adultery and fornication as criminal offences does not comply with international human rights standards.

"The sentence of execution by stoning for adultery breaches Iran's commitment under article 6(2) of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights that death sentences will be imposed ‘only for the most serious crimes'," Amnesty wrote in its appeal.

Under Shari'a law, a prisoner is buried up to her breast, her hands restrained. Rules also specify the size of the stones which can be thrown so that death is painful and not imminent. Both men and women can be sentenced to die by stoning. In practise, however, an overwhelming number of women receive that penalty.

"It's high time this brutal practise ends. Not only are people deprived of their right to life by the state but they are tortured in the process," Nicole Choueiry, Amnesty's Middle East press officer, told IPS.

"Iran should review its legislation as a matter of urgency to bring it into line with international human rights standards," she added.

According to an independent legal analysis of the country's penal code, Iranian judges are required to issue these mandatory sentences. Rarely, IPS sources inside Iran said, are these sentences carried out.

One lawyer, who asked not to be named, told IPS that the head of the judiciary, Ayatollah Shahroudi, frequently has been able to postpone executions. He does not, however, have the authority to commute death sentences to life imprisonment.

In addition to the seven women mentioned in the latest report, Amnesty earlier issued reports of two other Iranians also allegedly at risk of being stoned.

According to Amnesty, Parisa A. received her execution sentence while working as a prostitute in the city of Shiraz. She claims she had been forced into prostitution by her husband due to her family's poverty. Her sentence was upheld by a branch of the Supreme Court in November 2005. Her case is under review by the high court.

Iran E., an Ahwazi Arab from the Bakhtiari clan, was sentenced to be stoned for adultery. Her verdict was upheld by the Supreme Court in April.

Khayrieh V., another Ahwazi Arab, was reportedly subjected to domestic violence by her husband when she allegedly began an affair with one of his relatives, who then murdered her husband, the Amnesty report said. She has denied any involvement in the murder but has admitted to adultery.

The Supreme Court has upheld her sentence and the case now apparently has been sent to the Head of the Judiciary for permission to be implemented. Amnesty quoted her as saying, "I am ready to be hanged, but they should not stone me. They could strangle you and you would die, but it is very difficult to have stones hitting you in the head."

Dear Friend,

Thank you for contacting me with your position on immigration policy. It is helpful to learn the views of my friends and neighbors in Northern California, and I appreciate having your input.

There is broad consensus in this country that our current immigration policies are flawed. The immigration system is broken and we must take action. We should begin by strongly enforcing existing laws, securing the border, cracking down on employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants, and devising a realistic way to deal with the 12 million people who are unlawfully in the U.S.

The debate about how best to address the problem of illegal immigration has been ongoing for quite some time and there are numerous proposals for alleviating the strain it puts on our borders and communities. However, I believe there are flaws in many of these plans to deal with illegal immigration. About two decades ago, when Congress last substantially altered immigration laws, the country saw a brief decline in the number of people entering this country illegally. Unfortunately, this was followed by a massive influx of illegal residents as desperate immigrants found ways to circumvent the new laws. We must ensure that the policies we enact now do not lay the groundwork for more unlawful entry in the future.

U.S. immigration policy must include new tools for law enforcement and the border patrol, as well as the funding they need to strongly enforce existing laws and secure the border. There are crucial steps we should take: we must increase the number of homeland security personnel guarding our borders and give them the resources they need.
Our border and immigration agents can't enforce existing immigration laws because of paltry funding levels and we should untie the hands of our men and women in uniform. We also should inoculate businesses from deceitful employees who falsify identification records by implementing a permanent program to verify worker immigration status. And we need to change the way we process legalization applications to clear the years of backlog and shorten turnaround time.

You will be pleased to learn I am an original cosponsor of sweeping immigration security legislation that will go a long way toward solving many of our nation's immigration problems. H.R. 4088, the SAVE Act of 2007, is a three part bipartisan immigration bill focused on enforcement of homeland security laws aimed at combating illegal immigration, terrorist immigration, and weapon and drug trade, while providing common sense protections for American workers and businesses. The bill dramatically increases funding for border security programs, the investigation of illegal immigrant and terrorist activities inside the U.S, and fully implements the Department of Homeland Security's E-Verify employer and worker protection pilot program. E-Verify allows businesses to quickly and accurately determine the employment eligibility and immigration status of new employees, which protects employers and American workers from deceitful employees who falsify identification records.

I am also an ardent opponent of so called amnesty proposals that would naturalize large segments of the illegal immigrant population, but I have heard from many agricultural businesses, ranchers, farmers, high-tech companies, and small business owners in my district who not only would be damaged if the status quo continues, many of them would go out of business. This is something that I cannot support, but I believe we have some common sense options. As Congress considers future immigration legislation, I will factor your recommendations into my decision making.

Thank you again for sharing your views. I am proud to serve California's Eleventh District, and I am committed to working hard for you. If you would like more information about the issues I am working on in Congress, I encourage you to visit my website at www.mcnerney.house.gov.

Sincerely,

Jerry McNerney
Member of Congress
