"I'm going to be honest with you, I don't know a lot about Cuba's health care system. Is it a government-run system?"

- Sen. John Edwards, would-be president

I consider myself to be rather liberal, however I sway from the left from time to time. I do not believe that anyone has the right to end another persons life, ever, through war, death penalty, abortion, etc.

I can't understand how someone can value one life over another.

You generally have to wait two years after being off medication before you can enlist. How can they prove you have taken it in the past two years unless they subpoena your medical records. Couldn't you say your mother filled it but you didn't take it?

My daughter's friend wants to join and I have informed him of this requirement but he said he hasn't taken his medication for his entire senior year and most of his junior year even though his mother got the prescription filled twice in case he wanted to go back on it.

I'd prefer an answer from a recruiter or someone with experience and please do not leave comments about ADHD being fake, etc. because I'm not here to debate it. This kid's mother is a friend of mine as well and doesn't have a computer unfortunately. Her son is graduating i June and planning on joining right away.

What I mean is, when growing up I always heard (as I'm sure most of you did) "The Democrats are for the working man & The Republicans are for Big Business"...

When did this thought process change?

I think even the Republicans gave up that position around 1984. If Roe vs. Wade is overturned it will just allow states to legislate the issue and only 5-10 of them would outlaw it. Also not how South Dakota's voters overturned a state ban. I dislike abortion but I'm not going to be naive about it.

I was told this is is plan for healthcare..............It is time to take back our health care. This is why I support:

Making all medical expenses tax deductible.
Eliminating federal regulations that discourage small businesses from providing coverage.
Giving doctors the freedom to collectively negotiate with insurance companies and drive down the cost of medical care.
Making every American eligible for a Health Savings Account (HSA), and removing the requirement that individuals must obtain a high-deductible insurance policy before opening an HSA.
Reform licensure requirements so that pharmacists and nurses can perform some basic functions to increase access to care and lower costs.

Additional bills he sponsored:
(They reduce health care costs)

HR 3075 provides truly comprehensive health care reform by allowing families to claim a tax credit for the rising cost of health insurance premiums. With many families now spending close to $1000 or even more for their monthly premiums, they need real tax relief-- including a dollar-for-dollar credit for every cent they spend on health care premiums-- to make medical care more affordable.

HR 3076 is specifically designed to address the medical malpractice crisis that threatens to drive thousands of American doctors- especially obstetricians- out of business. The bill provides a dollar-for-dollar tax credit that permits consumers to purchase "negative outcomes" insurance prior to undergoing surgery or other serious medical treatments. Negative outcomes insurance is a novel approach that guarantees those harmed receive fair compensation, while reducing the burden of costly malpractice litigation on the health care system. Patients receive this insurance payout without having to endure lengthy lawsuits, and without having to give away a large portion of their award to a trial lawyer. This also drastically reduces the costs imposed on physicians and hospitals by malpractice litigation. Under HR 3076, individuals can purchase negative outcomes insurance at essentially no cost.

HR 3077 makes it more affordable for parents to provide health care for their children. It creates a $500 per child tax credit for medical expenses and prescription drugs that are not reimbursed by insurance. It also creates a $3,000 tax credit for dependent children with terminal illnesses, cancer, or disabilities. Parents who are struggling to pay for their children's medical care, especially when those children have serious health problems or special needs, need every extra dollar.

HR 3078 is commonsense, compassionate legislation for those suffering from cancer or other terminal illnesses. The sad reality is that many patients battling serious illnesses will never collect Social Security benefits-- yet they continue to pay into the Social Security system. When facing a medical crisis, those patients need every extra dollar to pay for medical care, travel, and family matters. HR 3078 waives the employee portion of Social Security payroll taxes (or self-employment taxes) for individuals with documented serious illnesses or cancer. It also suspends Social Security taxes for primary caregivers with a sick spouse or child. There is no justification or excuse for collecting Social Security taxes from sick individuals who literally are fighting for their lives.

Ive heard that the i131 petition is basically a petition that allows person who have already sent in a petition for the i130 it basically allows them to travel between there country and the US. For instance if the person is a Jamaican citizen, if they apply for the i131 will they be able to travel from Jamaica to the US. If not, what exactly is the i131 and also is there anything that allows a person who have sent in a petition and recieved confirmation from USCIS of receiving the petition is there any way they can travel between the US and lets say Jamaica? What exactly is the process that goes on in the background when you send in your i130 application?

Is there an issue that Ron Paul does not claim a Free Market can correct?

Ron Paul on healthcare - Elminate the government control, have an absolute Free Market, eliminate medicare/medicaid, FDA, etc.
Ron Paul on Economy - Elimnate government control, US withdrawl from NAFTA and WTO, eliminate income tax and inflation tax. Stop printing new money.

Ron Paul on Energy and Environment - Eliminate government control, allow drilling in ANWR and other public parks, eliminate Energy Department, focus on nuclear energy.

I give Ron Paul credit for swaying from the Republican platform which some other candidates follow to the T, (ie Giuliani). However is eliminating Government control the solution to every problem?

Or is chronic pain an understood risk (albeit rare) of the operation and one for which the doctor cannot be held accountable?

I'm not talking about initial pain following the operation, but rather regarding some rare instances where pain (as a result of the surgical change) will manifest several months later and continue without stopping. I haven't received this surgery yet, but it's one I've been researching, and I've found a couple accounts of men who started to experience chronic pain in the area of the surgery months/years after the initial surgery, even though initially there was NO pain reported. I'm just curious about liability for a situation like this.

Thanks.

It seems that conservatism is the logical progression of political thought in educated societies.

A society may begin with authoritarian goverment offering handouts to peasants for their support, but as the society becomes more productive and more educated, individual responsibility and less government intervention result.

Generally speaking, most young, naive, lazy, uneducated people are overwhelmingly liberal. As these folks age and have families, they tend to lean more conservative. They realize that government can not and will not be the answer to all of life's questions. Hard work and personal responsibility are much more rewarding than whining, begging, and being envious of those who have more "things" than them. Thoughts?

I remember when I was enlisted; my fellow Soldiers would love to play practical jokes on the newest and/or most gullible member of the team. They would send him to supply to pick up a box of Grid Squares for the Land Navigation Training. Or while in the motor pool, they would have him check the brakes of a vehicle by trying to push it while someone sat in the vehicle applying the brake, and then they would send him to the chief mechanic looking for Blinker Fluid or Muffler Bearings.

When I became an officer I found out my fellow Lieutenants could be just as cruel and more in-depth with some of there jokes. Usually these revolved around some made up regulation or SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) that was “common knowledge” to everybody else.

These are just a few scenarios, have you heard of any others? I have never been able to keep a straight face to pull off any jokes. And I have been on the receiving end of some attempted jokes too. Please share.
Thanks,

Media reports of the day listed the Communist PLA woes of the early 1990's due to Communism's historically proven failed economics and a nearly bankrupt central government. Boots for every other soldier, guns for half their men with only 5 BULLETS PER GUN, no real navy and precious little effective air forces. Command was antiquated as were communications, nuclear capacity and field armor with moral tanked due to nonpayment of salaries throughout the conscripted service of the PLA. The student uprising of 1989 by unarmed citizens seeking liberty nearly defeated the PLA but was brutally repelled with an excess of 10000 murdered students in the streets of China's capital. Point is the people nearly won. 1994 saw the realization of the dream of capitalizing from tyranny while undermining freedom and avoiding living wages by a small group of Arkansas traitors when Clinton, acting as a WMT lawyer while President of USA, extended "favored nation" trading status to the enemy of liberty.
