I think even the Republicans gave up that position around 1984. If Roe vs. Wade is overturned it will just allow states to legislate the issue and only 5-10 of them would outlaw it. Also not how South Dakota's voters overturned a state ban. I dislike abortion but I'm not going to be naive about it.

Republicans say things about abortion to toe the party line. What they truly believe probably varies a lot more.

First, understand that abortion was around a long time before the courts decided to take it out of the hands of back alley butchers and make it safer for the mother. Outlawing it will only send it back to the butcher shops.
Many women died or were rendered sterile by this practice.
My own thoughts are, if you're not part of the answer, you're part of the problem.
Anyone (many times men) who start on the issue with me (and no, I have not personally eve had an abortion) I will ask, "How many unwanted, abused, interracial, handicapped children have you adopted? And how do you feel about helping the mother financially to keep and raise the child?"
The answer in always the same...none.
I do not advocate abortion!
I am for free choice.
It is not an easy decision to come to and one that is given much thought and heartache. But it is a personal decision.
Anyone who thinks otherwise, unless they are doing something to help, myob.
Oh, and as for tax dollars financing it...it's still cheaper than financing the food stamps and child support for 18 yrs.
The thing to see here, it's not always because they don't want another child. Sometimes it's for medical reasons, rape, incest...every case is individual. And the decision should be based on that...by the person responsible for carrying it, giving birth, and raising it.

ADDENDUM: And not all abortions are paid for with tax money. Some are personally paid for. In TN, last I heard, it was $400.00. You must qualify to have the state pay for it.

To overturn RvW would not outlaw abortion. It would merely allow states to legislate it. As they should. As they did in the time of RvW. She could have gone to the next state over and got one. Now that the Genie is out of the bottle, it won't be put back in. A few of the real problems that "Pro Choice" people see, states would require girls under the age of 18 to get parental consent (abortion is a medical procedure) and younger girls could be required to the name the father if statutory rape laws come into effect. If the Federal Government had to step aside, it is probable that money that the Pro Choice folks would like to see used to support clinics and abortions for financially strapped women would never materialize. They want abortion on demand for any woman and have it paid for with tax $$. That would be next to impossible if RvW were overturned.

It would be good to see abortion outlawed, again. I would vote for that. So far as the rights of a woman are concerned, she also has the right to say no. Killing an unborn child is still wrong, regardless of the circumstances. A return to the expectation of personal responsibility for a person's actions would be a good thing to see happen.

i do no longer think there is any connect between rape and abortion. yet I do have faith that throughout u.s., rape tiers might upward thrust if there have been no prostitution and ladies withheld intercourse. yet purely the place do you think of that could desire to place women? women already declare that one and all the best adult males are taken OR gay. as quickly as adult males get used to no longer having intercourse with women, we'd circulate on the different issues, like different adult males, robots, dolls, cyber-intercourse, and a number of of issues I think of that have not hit the industry yet. And in turn, you women will initiate complaining back approximately our "selfishness", our "concern of sturdy women", or "obsession with intercourse". you will then arise with yet another lame-*** excuse for adult males no longer chasing you.

Mississippi only has one abortion clinic, so state wide bans aren't unimaginable.

One can only hope, but that would be utopian of me.

In reality, I would be shocked if it ever did.

This country is going to hell in a handbasket, and the driveby media is carrying it.

I don't believe that abortion should be outlawed, I just don't believe that tax dollars should be funding it.
