Ok first and foremost everything here is said with the understanding that downloading music illegally is a CRIME. But think about this if you're worried about lawsuits/ etc regarding music downloads.
Basically everyone has experimented at one point or another with music downloads. The problem is the guilt when you do decide to stop. Is stopping itself enough?
Let's say that you've downloaded a pretty hefty collection over the past year. Now the fact that you have downloaded at all is a crime; if you deal drugs at some point in the past, you're still liable today. But by stopping, aren't you sort of preventing yourself from being caught, theoritcally? If the feds had the choice of going after someone who is still downloading, or someone who has kicked the habit, why would they choose the person who stopped? IN other words,if they could get the guy who sold drugs a long time ago or the guys still doing it,they'd go after the ones still doing it correct? Doesn't this mean ur kinda safe?
