After about one month into this war I knew it was mistake. So I've opposed this war almost from the beginning. And I've always thought that the present generation should pay for the majority of it. Especially considering that it doesn't look like it will have any real benefit to future generations, because it's NOT a war on terror. It's instead a mistake.
And if more people who support this war had to pay for it, there would be less support for it. That's the big reason why Bush hasn't made them pay for it. As low as the approval is for this war now, it will really hit rock bottom if Americans actually had to pay the financial price.

I oppose welfare and grants to immigrants, but I still have to pay for it.
I guess, in the big picture, it doesn't matter what I think.
And, no, I wouldn't oppose the war because of a tax increase. You either support or oppose it on principle. Money has never been a real issue when determining policy.

i do not support the war but i should be paying for it. the fact that i did not do enough to stop this insane policy makes me responsible just as all the rest of this nation is. we either supported the war or failed to fight it hard enough our children deserve better. i believe if we had to pay for it now we would find a way to get out. bush has purposely not budgeted the war and used supplemental instead to circumvent the budget process and to skew the numbers. for or against the war we owe it to our children and grandchildren to pay for it now. taxes, bonds whatever means needed it is inexcusable to leave this unpaid for.

I opposed it from day one, but believe that Saddam would still be in power if Bush proposed paying for it by raising everyone's taxes.
There are a few gullible people who really believed Saddam posed a threat, but I think most Americans knew that he didn't threaten the US and when no WMDs were found, it confirmed the doubters suspicions. Thus the current Iraq war/Bush approval rating of 35%.

I have a recording of Spike Jones asking for people to buy war bonds. I like that & raising taxes better than the sneaky way he is making money for himself & Chaney. BUT, since the war was started because the world banks wanted to generate $$ for themselves, & Bush & Chaney are making money hand over fist, I would have fought the tax increases anyway, & they can easily be reversed by the next president, our children's, children wouldn't be paying for a war for oil for the president.

Raising taxes now to support the war as it would be virtually impossible to raise enough taxes to support the war. The children and grandchildren will not neccessarily suffer as the debt could be consolidated.
The war is useless to begin with and is defeating the purpose as more civilians are being killed than the soldiers themselves. I oppose of war in it's entirety.

I think it should have gone on HIS own credit card!!! First they don't get enough help/supplies, etc. and more and more die. NOW it's send more and more over and buy MORE supplies and for what?????? NOTHING!! Iraq was not a threat on the USA......that is what I believe. Granted Sadam was an A** but so are a lot of people. I have a good friend who's son is over there right now and MY SON who has a baby boy may be going soon too.....it SUCKS. I can't stand G. Bush. Just my opinion and I don't care if anyone doesn't like it. How many more of our babies are going to die for freakin NOTHING???!!!!

The was was a bad idea from the start. Plus, Bush would have only raised taxes on the middle class.

I would much rather pay for a war in Iraq than to have the war move here. I think that would cost much more.

The thing is, it isn't only our grandchildren who will be paying for it, we are paying right now, in ways apart from taxes.
