Yes, you have a criminal record, you pled guilty to either a felony or a misdemeanor.

If you didn't have a lawyer in court (you should have!) call the clerk of court where you were convicted and ask her specifically what you were convicted of and what class of crime it is in your state. Keep your fingers crossed it's a misdemeanor, if it's a felony you just lost a whole bunch of rights and can't hold down 70% of the jobs in this country.

If you had a lawyer he/she should have been explaining it to you as you were going through the legal process, call him and ask him what you're convicted of and what class it is.

Contrary to previous answers, you can commit a felony and not serve time. You need to check with the court and find out if it was a misdemeanor or felony. If it was a misdemeanor, check with an attorney about how long you have to go before it can be expunged. If it was a felony, it can't be expunged and you have big issues.

Yes, you have a CRIMINAL record. If you paid a fine of ONLY $800 and served no time, it was a misdemeanor not a felony.

If you paid a fine, that usually means you were found guilty of something. Don't you have some paperwork?

Edit: I assume the answer above me is referring to the answer below me.
