place an ad in the paper with a picture and description of your car, and call different inmpounds, the police will call you when they find it because when mine was stolen it was found in a different state because onced it is reported stolen it is in the whole data base of every state.

I don't know where you live, but here in our little metropolis, everybody knows you can always call the cab companies. Tell them there's a $50 or $100 (that'll get their attention) reward for finding the car and instead of one, two, or five cops looking for your car, you'll have about twenty guys/ladies on the road looking. : @ )

When I field a report on a stolen, that's what I always tell folks to do. Not all like the idea of paying out $100.00 but I just ask them, "Do you want to find your vehicle or not?" They agree.

Sadly, it sounds like either the person you talked to is tired of stolens and/or the agency attitude on stolens may be pretty lax. They do happen pretty often. Sorry.

you can find your stolen car with whoever stole it. You reported it to the police. unless they recover it, they really have no idea where you car is either.
Calling the state police will acomplish nothing, unless they are responsible for taking the report. If not, they will only refer you back to your local police agency.

Unless your car is quipped with a tracking device, NO ONE knows where it is until it is found. If it was stolen by an organized group for the parts, it no longer exists. It was dismantled before you even knew it had been stolen.

I would call your state police and not local ones.
