ridiculous arguments like "the Democrats want America to fail" or "the Democrats care about the terrorists' feelings"??

If that's what they really believed, do you really think half the country would really support them as poll after poll after poll indicates?? I have a lot of conservative views, but the intellectual dishonesty rampant among Republicans is what is destroying this country.

I never hear this kind of insanity from Democrats...the closest comparison you could make is when some people say that oil was the motivation for Iraq or that Bush is stupid, but both of these are at least quite possible and can be backed up with some evidence, and they do not generalize about the entire party...

I was an employee with Ernst and Young's IT Audit Practice for two and a half years.. During that time, I was an experienced Staff within their IT Audit Practice.. One year passed by and I was not promoted to Senior.. This was normal as I had not been with the firm for a full year.. However, during my second year, I was passed over yet again to being promoted to Senior.. Because I was passed over two years in a row, HR immediately held a meeting with myself, our leading practice Partner, and our HR Coordinator.. The HR Coordinator and the Partner sat me down and said that because I was passed over twice to being promoted, I was going to be terminated.. However, in all of my engagement reviews, I received rave and positive reviews.. All of my Managers indicated in my reviews that I was ready to become a Senior.. When I brought this to HR and the Partner's attention, they said what was written did not accurately reflect everyone's feelings during our Year-End Reviews.. Can I take action?

My boyfriend is considering joining the Navy. He is 26 and has a communications degree so he thinks he would be an officer. He doesn't know what kind of job he would do. What should he expect? What are the good and (especially) the bad aspects of being in the Navy? Will he be gone often? And most importantly- is being on a ship in the Navy a dangerous situation? Any opnions would be really appreciated as he doesn't think he could trust a recruiter to give him honest answers and he doesn't know anybody in the Navy. Thanks!!

If a person of Hispanic origin rapes a woman and, in an attempt to catch this violent criminal, police publish a description identifying the suspect's general racial makeup, is that a "racist" thing to do? Apparently the folks at KMYL (1190 AM) in the metro Phoenix, Arizona area think it is. It appears that we cannot even discuss the basic appearance of a wanted criminal now without being "racist" about it all.

The story comes to us from The East Valley Tribune, where the paper quotes the vice president for programming at KMYL as saying that calling a criminal an Hispanic is "racial profiling." And what is her reasoning?

(Mayra) Nieves said Hispanic is an ethnicity, not a race -- and many Hispanics are white or black. She said ethnicity should not be used when describing an attacker. Instead she said she would describe the Chandler Rapist as having "dark skin."
Even her "explanation" contradicts itself. If a "Hispanic" can be white or black, why should the rapist be called "dark skinned"? After all, what is the definition of "dark"? To an albino, even a white person is dark skinned... or can I say albino without somehow being a racist?
Is it really a racist thing when we are given a generalized description of a wanted criminal's race or is it just good police work? It would seem to anyone with an ounce of sense that the later is the answer here. After all, if police are looking for a white Ford Bronco, should the police report describe the auto in oblique terms? (Such as calling the vehicle a "somewhat colorless, large American car that could be thought of as a sport utility vehicle, not that we are impugning all SUVs.") Or should the police just say it is a white Ford Bronco? Which one would more easily get the public to lend assistance with finding the vehicle? http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/101714
Mayra) Nieves said Hispanic is an ethnicity, not a race -- and many Hispanics are white or black.
OK, let's then be accurate, and refer to "mestizos" (people who are a genetic mix of Indian and European) and mulattos (people who are a genetic mix of Black and European)

The term "Hispanic" is fairly bad as a descriptive term, as it can refer to a

Black, Portuguese-speaking Brazilian,
a white person from Spain,
a South American native Mayan who only speaks his indigenous language rather than Spanish
in addition to the common sense of somebody of mixed white/Indian ancestry who speaks Spanish as his primary language

I got a job with a new company, signed the papers and was supposed to start working on Thursday. But just today they called me up and said that they don't want to hire me because they are doing some reorganization.

I mean is this legal, i.e. to reject a candidate even after both of us confirmed the position and signed the documents & I haven't worked a single day there?

Much like physicians, pilots & CPA's will America's future employee's at ALL levels need to certified for employment by the Dept of Labor & industries? Janitors, carpenters, pro atheletes, I mean every body baby sitters also? Will the day come when all will need to attend a state managed institute of higher education(academic or trade) to be eligible for ANY employment? Will Americans see the day when they are assigned jobs by skill level thru the Dept of Labor & Industries? Will state managed unions dictate worker conditions by creed? I'm noticing that the fields of education, state managed labor(L&I) & unions seem to be getting EXTREMELY inter woven. Will the day of "picking" your field of interest be replaced by an aptitude test & your field of employment be selected for you? Think about it, already you degree(education) in a field say a pilot, verify & register(L&I) for permission to work & the union is mandatory. Is this where we end up. You tell me.

It is happening now. It is all over alternative news and sites such as myspace for those who seek more than main stream media for knowlege. Big business that owns major media is determining who can and cannot be a part of presidential candidate debates. It is unconstitutional and an abstruction of our democratic process. The constitution determines who is quailfied to run for office and NBC and CNN have denied candidates on the foundation of money. If a candidate already has money why do they need to get more? If the object is to repair our nation with the hope of a better leader why are they requireing the candidates to sell out to dontaions. We are the leaders we choose. Are we strong enough to go against big business?

Back in February I had a friend call and his PC's were not working. I took both of them and left him a router which he said he would pay for and also told him he could borrow my daughter's laptop because I knew it would be a while before I would have time to even sit down to look at his computers.

Well It took me months to sit down to even look at them. I had a surprise pregnancy which let's just say really took it's toll on me. I'm finally due to give birth any day now.

I did fix his pc's.

I've been trying to get a hold of him and have only been successful one time and that is when I called his work # from a blocked line. He told me he would call me the next day but he didn't.

I have left NUMEROUS messages and I am pretty distressed now. He will not call me back.

What do I do? He has a good job and can certainly afford to buy his own laptop. This is my 12 year olds laptop and it's almost 2 years old.

What should be my next step?

Thanks for any suggestions.

I was told that when I get to MEPS for the Air Force, I will have to choose five jobs, and they will give me one of the five after I've already signed the contract. I do not want to join unless I get the one particular job I want. Is the Air Force just trying to trick me into doing a job THEY want me to do. Has anyone ever signed there contract at MEPS that said that they were specifically getting the MOS they wanted? I just want to know if anyone has ever made the Air Force liasions at MEPS budge from their "procedure" and go ahead and sign them for there desired job. Thanks.

I have a feeling that Iran does indeed have the goal of developing nuclear weapons, despite their statements to the contrary.

I also believe that sanctions and diplomacy will likely have very little effect here.

What we will see over the next few years is much like the endless talks with North Korea. Only the difference is that Iran is a much more rich and resourceful country than North Korea. So the end result will not be the testing of a small, crude nuclear bomb (as it was with NA), but rather something much more powerful.

What will be the outcome of the sanctions and diplomacy being applied here? Will these things make Iran change their course?

I pay my nanny $200 a week for a day for 12 hours of child care 5 days a week.
I pay my housekeeper $40 a day 3 days a week for cooking, cleaning and doing my laundry.
I have a gardner who I pay $20 each time he cuts my grass and trim my hedges.
I do not pay any payroll taxes, I do not provide health insurance or workmens comp. I do not pay for sick time, vacations, or holidays. I do not pay overtime.
Is there any American citizens out there who will do this work for what I pay my help? Could I rely on you to be at work on time, everyday?
Who is at fault here? Is it me, or is the workers who work for me, or is it American citizens who will not work for what I can afford to pay you?
