The vast majority will take no notice of politics until it directly impacts their life style. By then it is generally too late for them to do anything about it.

Becky, this is nothing more than a rant. And not even a very well thought out one. You site no evidence for anything you've said. Let's start at the beginning. Whatever office you run for you need money. That's what makes the engine go. You want to get your ideas out there? You need to buy commercials, pamphlets, have websites designed, you need a network of professionals to help you. This demonstrates that you are to be taken serious. If your ideas are pleasing to people and they agree that, because of your qualifications you're the one to makes these things happen, they donate money. The Networks and the Media take this commitment of money from people to candidates as a qualifier of the seriousness or value of your candidacy. Every politician, from local sheriff to US President needs money when they are a candidate. If you talk to politicians, read the interviews or their books, they all admit it's the most time consuming and least liked part of the job. You seem to think money in politics is bad. What's going to make it all work then huh? Trade 10 cows for a 30 second commercial? I mean really. What would you have us do? Who is it that you think isn't getting a fair shake? The media is so competitive one of them would love a story that someone legitimate isn't being heard be of because of o-o-o-o-o-o big business (the scariest of monsters).

We the average American are not equipped to do such a thing. Big business funds candidates and then the candidates spend at least the first two years pushing that business's agenda. Then the can probably get to our needs. Unless there is a network or big business not looking for nothing from something this won't happen. Capitalism is always prevalant. Money is more important to most of these people.

If you keep listening to the WHAKOS on alternative news your head will be more screwed up then it now is.Your apathy to big business is the dribble of the so called " intelligencia"most of whom never worked a day intheir lives. Media is big business . If debates are scheduled, major party candidates have always been selected to participate based primarily on the percentage of votes from the last presidential election, not on whether or not they paid money. You and Franken deserve one another.

you're authentic, yet i do no longer see any Democrats doing something approximately it. Kucinich on occasion, yet no longer adequate. basically, A Ron Paul Supporter P.S. @ Vulcan, you're precisely a million/2 spectacular. CNNBCABC are precisely the comparable as Fox. "The concept that journalism can in many cases produce a product that violates the needed pastimes of media proprietors and advertisers ... is absurd." ~ Robert McChesney, journalist and author "The CIA owns all and sundry of any importance interior the main substantial media." ~ Former CIA Director William Colby 1973-1976

I'm afraid at the end of the day it all comes to money. I don't care what any politician says in the morning by afternoon they'd say something else. It has been that way for years, from both major parties. Elections are in themselves Big Business.

Its a business owned by someone else.
That is their right to operate it as they see fit.
You live in America - you have every opportunity to create your own media site and say what you want.
Why do people seem to think that a private business has to conform to the Bill of Rights?
Those Rights were created by our government to protect us from GOVERNMENT intrusion.
It has nothing to do with businesses.
I'm no fan of big business...but they are within their rights to limit what they want.
Do you get it?

It is frustrating. We can't expect the corporate media to turn against themselves, but eventually they will alienate so many, that we will be the majority. So we can expect to empower the people. Don't despair: be a ripple.

That is a great question. Apparently, the answer is a resounding no!
The reason is that the majority is quite comfortable. They are sleeping with their eyes wide open, but don't realize it.
