No sanctions will stop them from making their nukes. How many countries are actually going to come out and say they're trying to make nuclear weapons when they've already stated they want to wipe another country off the map?

Through sanctions and diplomacy North Korea stopped their development although highly backed by the Chinese. There is currently no evidence that sanctions and diplomacy would not work against Iran too. Patience and time are needed. A cowboy with an itchy trigger finger can cause more harm than good.

The North Korean Nuke issue is solved. They quit right after they demonstrated that they could build some sort of a delivery system. Now they could negotiate from a position of strenghth. They got a trade deal with South Korean and tons of free diesel fuel.
When the Iranians get far enough along they will make a similar deal once they are in a position to negotiate a price.
Iranians have crude oil but only can refine petro chemicals, not fuel. They import fuel while exporting oil. They are in the same situation as Korea and it will play out the same way.
The sanctions are just the rest of the world making a statement. They have never worked before and they won't now. The only good that will come of it is that it may slow the transfer of funds to terrorist organizations.

I truly mean no disrespect towards you... but do you really still believe every little thing to be a threat? The world messed up with Hitler... they let him get going and he da*n near took over the whole thing... but since then hasn't it been one false alarm after another? We were terrified of North Korea for years.. that they would get the technology and either use it or sell it.... so far no problems as far as we can tell.... and you don't really hear about them in the media much these days. Now I'm not saying that Ahmadinejad isn't a moron who needs to be voted out by Iran...... I'm just saying the media is once again blowing things out of proportion and we as resourceful citizens need to stop freaking out every time the wind changes direction. The world is going to be full of moronic leaders hell bent on attaining nuclear technology for the rest of our lives... and if we go around trying to/threatening to bomb each and every one of them we will eventually either A: have someone call our bluff and all the other nations will start trying for the technology or B: actually bomb someone and ignite WW III. So maybe we should find another tactic don't you think?

They will if the diplomacy also includes Israel, and if Israel agrees to give up its nuclear weapons. Further if by diplomacy Iran is given the right to have nuclear power plants like all of the other major countries in the world have. Also sanctions have to be accompanied with diplomacy. Diplomacy which does not include our President threatening war all of the time.

Probably not. Sanctions have been ongoing for a long time with no effect. Diplomacy is seen by Islamists only a tool to get what they want, or to delay the enemy while they prepare for battle.
Even if you blow up the centrefuges, that will only slow them down. Nothing will stop them, in fact, dhort of destroying Iran as a nation (conqest, nuclear anihilation, fomenting another revolution, etc).

If Iran wanted nukes, they could have already had them long ago, before the pakistan scientist that ran an underground WMD trafficing market was put out of business.
If they want it for energy, lets build em some breeder reactors.
Problems solved, unless they just want to play the media to drive the price of oil up.

The sanctions will do nothing but cause the innocent people in Iran to suffer more than they already are.Iran will only change their course when Israel puts an end to their nuclear ambitions. And believe me,that will happen, and the suffering goes on.

anctions and diplomacy stand excellant chances of succeeding. That's not a guarantee, naturally.
But the current posturing of the Bush administration not only will not dissuade these two-bit dictatorships from trying to develop nuclear weapons, t is encouraging them and giving them a rrationalization they can use to keep the suport internally they need to do so.
When--and if--one of these nations does acquire not only nuclear weapoons but also the cpability to deliver them, we can take them out if need be. In the meantime, saber-rattling onl y aggravates the situation. And we've seen in Iraq what a disaster so-called "pre-emptive war" leads to.

The No Koreans are "playing peace" AGAIN
They will continue with the nukes, just not as open.
Iran thinks any nation that wants nukes should be able to have them and they think the USA has no business telling them otherwisw
