If your eye sight is affecting your job performance than it is legal.

You didn't mention what type of job you are in nor what state you work in, but if your sight needs to be protected, then you need to wear safety glasses.
If you need corrective lenses for processing orders or paper work correctly, then you need to get it corrected.
In short if your skills and talents aren't up to the employers expectations then he is certainly entitled to fill that position with someone who can.

I would guess that your performance without optical aid is not what he wants or needs. Are you making mistakes due to needing them? His business, his rules as far as getting production from employees.
