the US is in for a real rough ride, very soon.

for those too young to remember gas was rationed-there were odd/even days you buy gas depending on the last number of your license plate. before the gas crisis, gas was so cheap, nobody had locking gas caps. the oil crisis took down the entire economy for a good 10 years...mired in unemployment.

It’s a long-standing concern of border-security proponents: Illegal immigration and smuggling cause significant environmental damage, says a report recently released by the Bureau of Land Management. The annual report for fiscal 2006 details efforts by the bureau and partner organizations to mitigate the impacts on lands in Southern Arizona. Deborah E. Stevens, public affairs specialist for the Bureau of Land Management, said the purpose of the report is to build public awareness and get attention to the issue. “Tremendous numbers of people and organizations are doing work. We kind of want to let people know what we are doing and what kind of project work is going on,” said Shela McFarlin, special assistant for international programs for the bureau. More than 225,000 pounds of trash related to smuggling were collected, according to a press release on the report. Another 900,000 pounds of litter that resulted from both smuggling and illegal dumping were removed. About 24 million pounds of trash cover thousands of acres of public and tribal lands. The most visible items are drinking bottles, clothing and food refuse. Illegal roads and trails cause damages to resources on the landscape. There are also damages to infrastructure, such as gates, ranges, fences and water tanks. Also as a result of the project, more than 75 projects were completed, ranging from cattleguard repair to re-vegetation. The project also involved rehabilitating more than 100 routes and maintaining 26 miles of roads. Also removed were more than 130 abandoned vehicles and 1,902 abandoned bicycles. Removal of the vehicles, which are often burned, is difficult and expensive because care must be exercised to avoid further damage to the environment. the police? According to the news this morning, there is such a proposal being brought before the government. I read that suicide among soldiers is at an all-time high. This tells me that there is mental instability in some members of the military which could make them dangerous to civilians. Given that soldiers are NOT police officers and could commit crimes just like any other citizen, should they be given that much power? It seems that if crimes against a military person can be considered the same as a crime against the police, we are now proposing a police state and giving more power to the military who could actually begin to "quarter themselves in our homes". What recourse would citizens have against military personnel who are lawbreakers? How soon before Blackwater would beconsidered members of the military?

So I finally saw the movie so I can see what it was about. From everything I heard about it, I thought it was about the global warming hoax. But the only thing I got from the movie was that the Alien Love Child (Al Gore) was still upset about losing the 2000 election, and the movie was his way to do his share of Bush-bashing.

Is the movie really about the global warming hoax or is it a political bash of his opponent?

I have a friend who is a police officer and he works ALL THE TIME. I mean he works on his days off he gets like 4 hours of sleep I swear. He does it to get extra cash but it can not be healthy. Tuesday night he worked from 3pm to 3am and he had to get up early to be at work by 6:30. I have told him he should stop working so much but he doesn't listen. Does anyother officer do this?

Why are Conservatives making (man made) Global Warming into a full fledged political issue? Sure, if we are going to have a solution to Global Warming, it will involve politics to implement laws and such, but why do you make this into a "Liberal and a Democrat lie?" It is a serious environmental issue (that people on both sides accept) that will affect all of us unless we can reverse it now. Why do you deny it when the scientific community accepts if and even the White House accept it? This is an environmental issue that needs to be addressed. Why is it such a huge deal to address this issue? Does the future of our planet matter and how it affects us and future generations even matter to you or does only the political side matter?

or at least for many many more decades to come at a very minimum? I am not talking like a lukewarm war like the cold war. I am talking real fighting wars with invasions and conquests and policing of civil wars, and eavesdropping on would be supsected terrorists, and extraditions and Gitmo, and looking at citizens rights under "more enlightened" eyes due to current threats and the whole ball of wax. We are at war against terror, and we are in this war for the long foreseeable and unforeseeable future.
