After 6 years of effort, do you think he will achieve his goal?

I don't believe Bush is trying to start WW3. I think he simply wants the United States of America to be constantly in a state of conflict with another country to motivate the economy. Then simply blows it out of proportion calling it WW3 to make sure that "the masses" rally behind and against the war machine creating a surge in the economy.

He is doing everything in his power to do so. Ask again why I support MoveOn. The sources are legit.

To be honest, I don't even like to think about the possibility of war with Iran. But here's the unfortunate truth—plans for an aerial attack have been drawn up.1 There's nothing stopping Bush from launching that attack any day. And right now the progressive movement's main strategy for preventing it is simply to hope that it doesn't happen.

To paraphrase my ninth-grade sex-ed teacher, "Hope is not a method." We need to do something. There are increasing indications that war with Iran may be imminent. And experts agree it would be a catastrophe.

War would be a disaster. Military officials who've gamed-out a war with Iran say it's a very, very bad idea. "Iran would hit back against US forces in Iraq and Afghanistan and activate terrorist allies in the Middle East, further destabilizing a region already struggling with two major wars."2 US troops in the region, Israelis and American civilians abroad and at home would all be at risk.

And it's a real possibility. For months, there's been a stream of leaks and revelations by former Bush administration officials that paint a scary picture: Vice President Cheney and the neocons are quietly maneuvering us toward war with Iran—just as they did with Iraq.3,4

Now, the New York Times reports that Freedom's Watch, a $200 million propaganda machine headed by former White House insiders, has started to press for an attack.5,6 And this past week, Bush and Cheney upped the ante with aggressive statements, even invoking the specter of "World War III."7

Observers across the political spectrum, from Senator John McCain to former Middle East envoy Dennis Ross, say the threat is closer than it appears.8,9 And it's never a good idea to underestimate this president's capacity for recklessness.

We can't run the risk that they're crazy enough to do it. That's why it's so important that we make sure policymakers understand the cost of war, and we pressure Congress not to roll over on Iran. If we can raise the money today, here's what we'll do:

A number of top retired generals and military experts are willing to say publicly that attacking Iran would be a strategic disaster. We'll put them on tour to speak to political leaders, editorial boards and big audiences.
We'll run ads challenging the Bush administration and key presidential candidates—and remind people that the last time we heard many of these phony arguments was in the lead-up to war with Iraq.
We'll commission polling to show wavering politicians that if they stand up against war with Iran, the public will stand with them.
We'll run a major grassroots campaign urging Congress to confront the administration on Iran.
None of us know how likely a strike against Iran really is. But I'm going to do more than just hope it doesn't happen. The signs and signals have become too glaring. We have to act.

There have been a few leaders and organizations within the progressive movement who've consistently sounded the alarm on this issue. Now it's time for the rest of us to join them.

Thanks for all you do,

When 9/11 happened, it started the begining of the end. It is what opened the door to lead us down the pathway of what is now the premise by which all things are endorsed by--it's called terrorism.

The televangelist John Hagee (who is embraced by many Republicans and promotes a preemptive strike against Iran) believes that we need to do this so that WW III can occur so that Jesus can return.

I surely hope not.
However, he surely is trying to make it very difficult for the next president to undo all of his many mistakes.
It seems to me that his choice of words is part of the problem. He calls other countries "the axis of evil". He says that the US would not recognize another Cuban Government run by a Castro. He says that Iran will cause Word War III.
As the President of the most powerful nation on earth he has a responsibility to choose his words carefully.
Calling other countries "evil", "terrorists", etc.
If you are worried about another country starting obtaining a nuclear weapon, calling their leader a terrorist is not a great way to start diplomacy.
The problem with Bush, at least one of the problems, is that he doesnt look to diplomacy or negotiation.
That alone could lead us into World War III.
The next couple of years will tell.

No. I think that in the light of history, he won't get credit for that. Because, I think, future historians will eventually figure out the war had already started before he even assumed office. Heck, depending on who's writing it, the start of the war might be backdated all the way to 1948.

when you consider that those words got here out of Castro's mouth, then he's the single i visit communicate approximately. Fidel Castro never did like u . s . of america or never did like Bush. Castro is yet another dictator in basic terms like Hussein became. He speaks of hatred. it relatively is terrorists who will start up yet another WW III, no longer President Bush. And the perpetrator is IRAN and the Iranian president. The Iranian president is the single that desires to destroy Israel and does not like u . s . of america. I further greater of my strategies than in basic terms one.

No. He is trying to prevent WWIII. Even if he were trying to start it, he doesn't have enough time remaining in office to accomplish that dubious "goal." But look out -- some president soon just may "succeed"!

Yes he will, just as his dad, he will make sure this country is soo broke for when the new president comes in and tries to get us out of the hole. To me this is more of a personal issue then an American issue as his father whom sucked also had problems with Bin Laden and didnt come back up til you guys voted his son who was just as bad as daddy (to me worst)was in office.

You're a liberal, aren't you?

So, when you read the news (you know how to read, right?), have you noticed that Muslim Terrorists have been murdering people in cold blood in more than 20 countries around the world in the last 6 years, and despite all their efforts to start a world war,

THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA HAS STOPPED THEM.

You and other liberals like you are not worthy to live in this country. Frankly, I'd rather trade you out for a few million Mexicans. At least they work for a living.

Well, he does seem to be trying awfully hard, huh? I think that enough people are starting to really pay attention to what he's doing and call him on it, and I think it's funny his cabinet members and lackeys are jumping ship like drowning rats. It's getting close enough to the election that people are really noticing so while it's the perfect time to go out with a bang, he also needs to watch his butt. But what does he have to lose? His term is up, anyway, and he doesn't have to kiss butt to get re-elected.

Last-ditch parting gift to the world!

Nothing would surprise me with Dubya still in office. *rolls eyes*
