An oligarchy is a form of government in which all power is vested in a few persons or in a dominant class or clique; government by the few.

So yeah we have the congress, but come on! The "average", middle-class man can not be President. The "average" man can not even become a Senator.

Our country is ruled by the wealthy. Lobbiest and corporations replace the voice of the people.

When will be get back to true Representative Democracy?

What do you think?

I'm on probation for 2 years but I can't join a miliary branch until I finish it off. Can my probation officer let me off if I tell her a good enough reason like this one? Or would I need to hire an attorney by settling it in court to have it reduced?

I'm a contractor who is being sued for $1,100 in small claims. I agreed to Vinyl Side a house and Garage for $2,500 material and Labor combined. I received $1,700 down to furnish materials. We completed the house and half the garage but run out of money to finish. We never received any money for any labor performed. I did not have the money to finish the project out of my own pocket and felt bad It was taking so long. I agreed to finish the job out of my own pocket at my own expense to keep the peace. Apparently I was taking to long to come up with the other materials and he threatened to sue me. I told him fine , and told him I had done enough and wasn't doing anymore and to do what he had to. He is suing me for $1,080 for material

I had a wreck 2 weeks before my 18th birthday. I hit a city light pole. Not damged.. but recieved a invoice for 1,053.00. By kansas law arent my parents still legaly responsable for this debt since it happened 2 weeks before my birthday? I am 18 now. I just dont want to owe a debt before I get out of the gate. They say I have to pay it because I am 18 by law. They will not pay or even let me pay them back. They say it's mine to pay. By Kansas Law do I have to pay this or are my parents legaly responsable for it?

The police just called my mother looking for me, said i missed a court appearance for unpaid parking tickets in march that i completely forgot about. Mom said to call the police officer but I don't want the officer to arrest me before i get a chance to pay the ticket and whatever costs have accrued since then.

Is it normal procedure to let you pay the debt before they just lock you up???

I am puerto rican. My family has fought in WW1, WW2, and the Spanish Am. War. Why is it that in the US, mexicans try to lump me with what THEIR illegals are doing? If you are mexican learn that I dont have any relations with you. Dont group me with how your country is destroying the US.

Although I'm asking about a political issue, I'm not looking for the political replies, I'm looking for the legal aspects of the issue.

Torture.

John Yoo and David Addington have written some opinions concerning the use of torture. They appear to be the broadest, and controversial opinions ever. They appear to give the President open ended authority to torture anyone he wants. (Again, I'm not looking for a political discussion of whether the President has this right.)

First - Just because a lawyer writes an opinion doesn't necessarily make it legal. The matter has to be adjudicated.

If a lawyer writes an opinion on something such as torture and the ruling goes against the lawyer's opinion, can the lawyer be held accountable and sent to prison? References?

Take this a step further.

If the lawyer's opinion is found to be wrong. Could the person using this opinion for justification for their actions then be held responsible? References?

Thanks.

Recently the state government PASSED legislation that allows state and local law enforcement to enforce existing immigration laws, STOPS all free public services to illegals, and harshly punishes employers tthat hire illegals.

Hey Washington pay attention this is what the american people want. Who would have thought that the U.S. would have to look to Oklahoma to show us the way? How long will it take the rest of the country to follow?

I was parked in my apt complex's pakring area, where there is no sign regarding being towed at your own expense or who would tow you if it happened. I came home to find my vehicle gone. I called the apt and they said they didn't tow. I called the city and after they said they didn't, I reported my vehicle stolen. I called back my apt the next morning and they again declined towing me, but said they saw who did. When I picked up my car, they said the apt called. I called them again and they said one of their maintenance staff did call in the tow. I was parked ina no parking zone, but I think they should have had some sort of tow notice. This happened on my wedding anniversary and I was on the phone with insurance and at my house with the ploce for hours. Can I sue them for the tow at all?

Here's my deal. I got a ticket for driving while suspended and had no clue it was supended because they were sent to my old adress. On top of that, I was in a non moving car at the time sitting behind a store in the driver's seat. I had no clue that I was suspended once again. On top of this, they sent the ticket to my old adress and I just found out that I missed the court date and have a warrant. I am in Maryland. I have a very good lawyer, but where I live they go exactly by the book and it goes, 1st offense: PBJ, 2nd offense: 30 days jail, 3rd: 60 days ect. This is my third. I am trying to get into the Army as well but now have to wait until this court date is done. Two questions...can I get out of this? And will it effect my getting into the army? Thanks people.
