Peter D. Keisler is the Attorney General of the U.S. Justice Department, presently.

Alberto Gonzales, the former attorney general, resigned on August 27, 2007 mainly due to numerous problems with the firing of several U.S. District Attorneys.

Right now the acting Attorney General is Peter Keisler. Federal Judge Michael Mukasey is going through the confirmation process in the Senate to replace Attorney General Alberto Gonzales

There is no official attorney general at the moment.

And there are very few of the positions directly beneath attorney general that have been filled after Alberto ran everyone off.

So in other words, much of the upper eschelon of the Justice Dept. is vacant.

I'm sure Bush & Co. are looking at McDonalds employees to find replacements at this point.

Yes he does. Right now we have an acting AG until one gets confirmed by the Congress.
