That's interesting, as he was able to speak freely and criticized Putin and his government left and right. Russia has changed over the years, but I wasn't aware their citizen would be able to speak so freely about their government, which is why I had assumed he's a double citizen and therefore can speak and criticize freely.

The USA is only one of 100 or more nations with free speech, and yes they have TV and Refrigerators too.
