Here's my deal. I got a ticket for driving while suspended and had no clue it was supended because they were sent to my old adress. On top of that, I was in a non moving car at the time sitting behind a store in the driver's seat. I had no clue that I was suspended once again. On top of this, they sent the ticket to my old adress and I just found out that I missed the court date and have a warrant. I am in Maryland. I have a very good lawyer, but where I live they go exactly by the book and it goes, 1st offense: PBJ, 2nd offense: 30 days jail, 3rd: 60 days ect. This is my third. I am trying to get into the Army as well but now have to wait until this court date is done. Two questions...can I get out of this? And will it effect my getting into the army? Thanks people.

Sounds to me like you may be doing 60 days if this was your third offense. It is so important to keep all your bills and licenses up to date on address so things like this don't happen. It may not keep you out of the Army now. They are so desperate for people to enlist that not much is stopping an enlistment anymore.

Doesn't matter if you knew or not. Many "deadbeat dads" get their license suspended with no notice at all. You won't win in court. It should not interfere with the Army as it is a motor vehicle case. This also depends on the jail time and the fact that it is a 3rd violation. Doesn't go well with being able to follow directions.

How in the world did you not know that your license was suspended. They don't arbitrarily suspend people's license, you had to have done something, like not pay a ticket. In which case you knew you didn't pay it and should have figured out that your license was suspended. If you have a good lawyer let him handle it and everything should be ok but don't try and tell us you didn't know, please.

It is your responsibility to keep the DMV informed of your address at all times. End of story.
