I am very sympathetic towards REALrape victims. It is a horrible crime & demands swift and equal justice no matter what a person's race. I can't help but be mystified, however, at the Duke Lacrosse rape case. In Durham's efforts to not look in ANY way racist, they rushed forward to prosecute these white boys. They didn't want to appear not to believe this black girl even after irrefutible DNA evidence cleared the lacrosse players. Then, it was the prosecutor, the city government, the state who ALL took a hit legally & in the media. That prosecutor certainly made horrible mistakes but this one case will ruin his entire life. Those boys, although exonerated, will have the word "rape" attached to them for the rest of their lives. Their families drug through the mud. And for what? Why is NO ONE, not the media, and suprisingly, not even the boys...focusing on prosecuting the GIRL who obviously LIED?! Can we as a society afford to allow anyone to yell rape & get away with it?
