For those that say not many Americans will work in fast food-
I have to tell you to get out more- the rest of the country isn't quite so accustomed to making concessions for people who won't assimilate.
I have never been served by anyone other than someone speaking English at any fast food restaurant anywhere .
Out here if you can't speak English- you are screwed
No one is going to bend over backwards to help you if you won't bother to show this country some respect and learn the language.
You sure aren't going to get a job in the service industry here if you can't speak English-
If the rest of the country did the same- we wouldn't be having this discussion.

My sister is a manager at a fast food restaurant and 1/2 her staff doesn't speak English. Those are the employees who go to work everyday without fail & do their job without complaining and to the best of their ability. The 1/2 that speak English rarely come to work and quit as soon as their training is over. The fact is that not very many English speaking adults will work at fast food restaurants & their children feel the same way.

I know why there are so many people who work at fast food restaurants who don't speak much English, if any at all. It's because they have had a good work ethic instilled in them & they know the importance of work and being employed.

What I do wonder is why our teenagers, born and brought up in the United States would rather mooch off their parents or be unemployed until something easier or with better pay comes up. Maybe it's the sense of entitlement that having been given everything brings OR maybe it's because they feel they are better than those sort of jobs. That's what I wonder about.

I haven't thought to ask her. I am glad you did. What did she say? Did you, as such a thoughtful, productive member of society offer to help her learn the language better? Or, more probable, did you look at her funny, and ridicule her behind her back because you didn't understand her accent? What a good citizen you are! I hope you enjoyed the burger she prepared for you.

No I'm more worried about the men in the Wendy's commercial who are wearing a girls orange wig. That's scary in a transvestite kinda way.
