It's GDP per Capita is higher than All former Eastern Block Countries including the Big Boy Russia, and China. A literacy rte of over 90% and a Life expectancy of 76. The US is 78. So do you find humor when mexico complains about being a poor country, when it is obvious it is much better off than many other Latin American nations and many other nations across the globe.

So they should be able to pay for education and services for their own people, instead of leaving them to come illegally and raid ours, right?

Mexico also has the richest man in the world. So why is it OUR fault that their poor can't get needed services at home?

Yeah, Jacob was right-- the Mexican government does ignore a huge part of its population. I know Mexico isn't the poorest country in the world, but let's face it-- it isn't anywhere near being the richest.

Let's think for a minute--- why would so many Mexicans be leaving their home country if there was ample amounts of work, money, and other opportunities??

There are poor people in mexico just like here only thing there is no welfare in mexico so people have to work. Some of them come up to the US trying to find better paying jobs. One lady told me that in Mexico if she had a baby she had to work to support her baby but here in the US they paid her to have babies.

If we did not have welfare we would be like other countries the young people having babies would have to find jobs here in this country or in others.

This sounds great for our southern neighbor. But who are these 11 million here illegally? And if it is so,so great in Mexico, why do they keep coming?
I did look on the CIA fact sheet and it says 40% live below the poverty line..I guess that is why they are poor..........and I find no humor at all in it..

THAT'S what I've been telling everyone, I live in Mexico and it's nothing like the horror stories I hear. Down load Goggle earth and check it out.
Mexico is a wonderful place with more fat people driving nice cars, living in their own homes then the states for Jesus sake.
I live in Mexico, I have a green card, I spend very little time in the states, and am glad most of the garbage is gone"illegals"

I did know that there are over 200 countries that are poorer than mexico. It's just that their war on poverty includes sending their undesirables to us.

Answer for Pita - primarily mexico but since you mentioned it it does seem that every third world country is.

Source please. I doubt they have a higher GDP than China. Also, there is a large indigenous population that the Government of Mexico largely ignores. I know for a fact that illiteracy is rampant among those people. Perhaps they were excluded from the survey.

I think the country, itself, is a pitiful embarrassment. It needs to take care of its own people.
