Won't be long. It's a matter of time before we're all owned and employed by the government. At that point, anyone who helps her will be a government tool. :)

What do you want the government to do? Not enough of a nanny state for you already? And what if the government decides crossing the street is bad for her? Would you want the government to stop her from crossing, beat her up for resisting arrest, and put her in jail for violating an order that was for her own good?

They won't help her cross the street. Instead they will pass a law that will decide that she is not healthy enough to cross the street, therefore it's in her best interest that she stay in doors for the remainder of her life.

Aren't there any traffic lights where you are?
Or Stop signs?
How about crosswalks painted on the road?
How about the judge and jury who will put you in jail for not obeying the speed limits and hitting that nice old lady?
Or the cost of feeding and clothing you in prison while you do time for it?
Or...did you think those things just sprang from the ground?
