Who else is excited about the new law? I am a non-smoker and I think its about time that we are protected. Even though places were previously divided into non-smoking and smoking, you were still breathing in the toxic chemicals. I am glad that smoking is not allowed in resturants now. I take pride in my health.

**Sissy. At the same time, shouldnt non-smokers have the same freedom--- not to be killed by smokers.

**DylisTN.. While those smells can be aggravating to smell... they cannot kill you like smoke can.. think about it. Its not even close to comparison, sorry.

** Sensible man. I dont think you are so sensible. I dont think you can say that someones right have been taken away by banning smoking. Shouldnt non-smokers have a right to breathe in clean air in places, not deadly smoke. Kill yourself if you want to, I take pride in health. and just FYI most individual ins companies do turn down obese people just incase you didnt know. I don't do things to harm myself, so I dont have to worry about the GVMT "taking my freedom", sorry.

I dont think smoking should be seen as a right. Why should it be a right to kill yourself with smoke and others? Thats like saying its ok for someone to shoot a gun out in public..even if the shooter doent hit anyone, it still doesnt make it safe to do. Like smoking, it may not hurt someone and it might hurt another person.

I live in Idaho and the rednecks here voted against a smoking ban in bars. It's so nasty, I can't even go out anymore!

Bar owners should look at stats from across the nation and realize their revenues will actually INCREASE if they ban smoking. More people come out to the bars and spend more money and stay longer becase it isn't making them sick.

I can understand that you are excited about the smoker act but I am a smoker and I also try to be decent about my smoking I don't smoke in the house and I try to respect others. But what makes me mad is this is a free country and last time I checked there was no law stating that smoking is a illegal drug. I don't think that they should be able to take people's rights's away just because they disagree with something we do. Just remember everyone has a habit no matter what it was what would you do if they made you stop. Just like freedom of speech how would you like it if they took that away from you. We are all living here and it is not ok for them to take people's rights away. I can understand at restaurants and places that are crowded. I can respect that but don't tell me I can't smoke in my house or outside away from others..

Like I said before there are so much worse stuff out there other than cig smoke. If you want something to fight for get drunks off the road or have them fight harder on the drugs. I don't think you want abunch of smokers to be made to quit smoking because than you will have one ugly site... Lot's of really pissed off people. Have you ever see someone withdrawal from smoking lol ain't pretty.

This law has been on the books in NY for several years now, and from experience the smokers tend to throw a hissy fit for a year or two then they just adjust and life goes on. I will probably persume it will be less in Tennessee since you do not have winters that are 30 below well maybe with the exception of Knoxville and Gatlinsburg, but it is annoying when you are trying to have your meal and you come home smelling like an ashtray.

Glad your happy about someone elses rights being taken away. You may be next. I hope they ban fat people from getting insurance too. They are much more likely to die than smokers. I also noticed that you don't read the Community Guidelines. Your "question" is actually chat or a rant. Yahoo Answers is for ANSWERS, not opinions.

They need to ban perfume, body odor, strong deodorant, and all other things which could offend someone near you.
