I was thinking that maybe Y!A should also have an area where the candidates can be *asked* questions - by the public. Not sure how this would work in terms of moderation (it would certainly need it) but I'd personally like to see the candidates answers questions that are of direct significance to us. Perhaps there could be a section wherein people can submit questions, you could vote on them and the top 10 questions voted in each week are posted to the question forum for answers.

Candidates (and their campaigns), of course, could opt not to answer any particular question but a general indifference to the format might be picked up on by the community here.

I'd think Y!A would go for it, too, since it would probably be a good selling point for the site to draw in people that otherwise would not join/create a profile.

I have already asked Conservatives to describe what they think about Liberals. Now I want to hear what they have to say about the Conservative point of view.

The best answer will be decided by the one that most adequately explains their answer. Not if I agree or not.

Please no links to websites. I want to know what YOU think. Not what someone would have you regurgitate.

Is it me, or have people forgotten how to listen to what others are REALLY saying, and only hear what they want to hear, and stop listening? They then attack the speaker before he/she can even finish the sentence. Bill O'Reilly is a great example of that. He doesn't even let you make your point, before interrupting, and attacking your statement because he doesn't like, or agree with what you are saying.

PHOENIX - A private investigator observing an autopsy of a woman who died after being detained at the Phoenix airport said bruises were scattered across her body, indicating there was a struggle, an attorney for the woman's family said."

I think she went nuts, and struggle with the police. The media said she was going to alcohol rehab. If that was the case, why was she flying alone? How in the world police should POLITLY ask people to come with them, especially if they are agressive/violent? Do you think she would come politely with them?
Of course her family will say, NOW, that she was sweet, what else they will tell, that she was crazy? Yeah right.

The Democrats sure think so.

Shouldn't we all come together and thank our President for stopping the creeping tide of socialized medicine?

My son is in the Marines. My husband and I are very proud of our son. Here's my problem. Last winter, while my son was home for a layover, we went to a family funeral for an Aunt. I asked my son to wear his dress blues, in honor of both my Aunt and my uncle (they love and honor anyone who serves). Anyway, while there, a few of my 2nd cousins blitzed my son saying that only losers join the military, how stupid the war is, etc., etc. My son took the high road as this was neither the time nor the place to get into a political discussion and simply turned and walked away. These 2 girls are both in their mid 20's, are highly educated, but have severe "Princess" syndrome. We have a family reunion coming up, and I want to blast these two young ladies if they bring this up again. I want to enlighten them and make them feel bad at the same time. I'm having trouble coming up with what to say. I want to put these two in their place, but don't want to stoop to their level. What to say?

Bush vetoed the health insurance bill citing its cost of $35 billion over 5 years, while the Iraq War has cost cost us over $400 billion and it's still rising.

Vetoing healthcare for kids? It is morally wrong to abort a cluster of cells the size of a peanut, but it is ok for kids to suffer from disease and or injury, both of which we'll shape their long term development and options? Making parents choose between the kids health and other bills? Damn. Please clarify, especially if you can tell how the "free market" will take care of this issue.
