Insurance companies are one of the most regulated industries on the planet. Instead of putting in place a Universal Healthcare System, should we model health insurance around the life insurance model in place today?

If we deregulate the insurance industry and allowed competition across state lines, it would be affordable.

You can have whole health that grows in value until you need it like whole life. You buy it young to get the cheap rates. You have term health that can be bought in 1 year, 5 year, 10 year or 20 year increments like term life. Premiums would be based upon the policy you choose and a physical exam.

1 year term health would be the cheapest and would cover the basic healthcare and the cost adjusts every year we get older. Whole health would be the most expensive and if you didn't use the entire policy when you die, the retained value passes onto your children or spouse.

To me this makes sense vs. UHC. Thoughts?

I'd like Arnold Schwarzenegger to become president. Or possibly David Beckham, if he can show some government experience (city council maybe?).

Or better yet, a Schwarzenegger-Beckham ticket.

So, how do I do this?

the U.S. I doubt very seriously that the VAST majority of Americans want to listen to the diatribes of a person who espouses the total destruction of Israel and a theological takeover of the world. This is the same University that shouted down the Minutemen who help patrol our borders against ILLEGAL aliens which most folks think is a good thing. Where is the common sense in that place????

Or do you think that this peaceful protest was successful at forcing the justice system to be blind, and prosecute accordingly, with aggravated assault by a minor? Also, do you think the kids who were found today having hung four nooese on a truck would have been arrested? Or would that case have just been pushed aside like the many before it were?

In the States the parties are the same more or less, but their supporters are completely different.
The two sides have a completely different modus vivendi and view of the world.
I can't imagine this will go on for a long period of time.
When will the clash begin?

Did you know that with both those cases the circumstances were exaggerated?
McDonalds apparently made their coffee so hot in order to hide it's poor quality and taste. And they did it to save fractions of a cent on every cup of coffee sold.
The alleged "burglar" who sued after being injured while breaking into a house? Well, he was actually a student who was on the roof of his school with some friends. The school had decided to paint skylights the same color as the roof. Two other students had fallen before him. The student who fell and sued remains paralyzed.
Now, knowing these facts, does it change your opinion on these particular cases?
And are these just examples of Conservatives trying to dodge responsibility and have the government take care of them?

I receive several calls a day from multiple charities attempting to collect a "small" $15 donation (where they get the idea that $15 is nothing to most people is beyond me) and they don't accept no for an answer, especially the various police funds who actually become quite rude even after I explain why I am not able to donate at this time. They just call back the next day anyway. Apparently these organizations are exempt from the "Do Not Call Registry". Is there anything I can do to put an end to these calls completely? Please don't say "Just don't answer the phone" because the simple fact that my phone is ringing is disrupting enough. I also shouldn't have to turn off my ringer because then I might as well not even have a phone and there is no reason why the people who need to reach me throughout the day shouldn't be able to.

Hugo Chavez of Venezuela has said that he vows revenge on the UK and the Royal Navy. Due to his new wealth he has been able to acquire the latest Russian and Iranian technology and is calling for the reinvasion of the islands. However I am sceptical of this new technology as the RN in a few years will be the most advanced fleet in the world with type 45s, astutes and the new carriers. I think we could and it would be easier as the missiles and planes couldn't get near a fleet with type 45s. Thoughts?

If you want to be a permanant resident in OUR United States.
You should have to
Join a branch of the United States Military.
Be taught correctly how to speak OUR langauge, respect for others, disciplined and learn to respect OUR Flag, laws , and our Constitution.
Volunteer to go to Iraq and fight for a year.
Prove to us that you are worthy !!!
that you will Fight for OUR Country ; Be willing to Die for OUR Country .
Just as we do and are expected to do.
You should earn your right to be here.
Not expecting everything to be handed to you.
While OUR people suffer by unemployment, poor medical benefits, underhoused...
And, So, that our men can come home, back to his/her Country.
I do not mean to sound rude and harsh.
But I feel this would be the most honorable way to obtain Citizenship in our United States of America.
And I feel that EVERY Illegal Immigrant should have to go through this Process.
If you are not free-willing to do this.
Then you do not deserve to be here!

to sum it up...
1. Defeating the right-wing agenda of the Bush Administration.
2. Winning a wide-ranging program of reforms that put the well being of the people before private profits.
3. Eventually replacing BIG business with labor and its allies as the dominant power so as to insure that the rights, economic security and expanding needs of the people become the overriding concern of society.

I goofed and now have a second moving violation within 1 year of my last one. I took traffic school for the first one to remove the points. According to the DMV site, I can't take it again within 18 months of the first violation. However, the courtesy notice I just got from the SCC court house offers me a chance to take it again (at a $14 premium over not taking it).

Should I just go ahead and take it?
Are they going to realize later that I already took it and say that I can't (and not refund the money)?
Are they going to wait until I take and pay for the traffic school and then say that I can't do it and leave the point on my record?
Is this common?

What do you think of hate crime legislation? If someone attacks or kills another person, does it matter why? If you have two people that commit a crime and one does it out of hatred, should one person be treated different than the other?

The National Debt is now about $9 trillion. Republicans have done most of the spending but refuse to pay for it. When Democratics try to balance the budget Republicans complain about higher taxes. Future generations will have to deal with this debt. by probably paying much higher taxes. Does all this seem hypocritical to you ?

Can a mother legally make her 13 year old daughter drop out of school? The daughter might be getting a job as an illustrator, so the mother wants the daughter to drop out and just work. The daughter wants to continue her education (she is in the 8th grade, and only likes drawing as a hobby).

Is this legal?

So last month, I got pulled over for wearing my seat belt under my arm. I understand completely NOW that this is illegal. Please dont explain to me how I should have known, etc. I have a mitigation hearing in one hour. I really wouldnt be so concerned about a $125 ticket, if that was the end of it I would pay it and go on with my life. However, I have a deferred speeding ticket for $280 that will appear back on my record and that I will have to pay for if I am convicted of the seatbelt violation. Now Im not trying to claim ignorance, although it may sound just like that. But honestly, I had no idea that you can get cited for wearing your seatbelt under your arm. I am short, 5'2, so since the day I got my license, I have worn my seatbelt under my arm because it digs into my neck. Since the day I got pulled over, I havent once worn my seatbelt under my arm. I have no problem following the law, but dont you think it should be made known exactly what is legal and what is not?
