And we will continue to fight against anyone who promotes it? Are you an american who would take up arms against racism? Or would you take up arms to protect someone's right to be a racist?

BTW, I consider the outrage on the right against Sharpton and Jackson as a justified voice against racism, as long as it isn't coupled with a 'well they did it, so I can too...'

grumpyoldman, white people have been complaining about that for years. Thankfully, there are less of you now. Nobody is buying the 'poor little rich white boy' bit.

Racism is a mere symptom of ignorance.

I like to think about what I could do to further education and mental/emotional wellbeing instead of going back and forth about racism and racial competence.

It's important to fight both racism while, at the same time, respecting others' rights to freely express their opinions.

It is not feasible to legally bind people to tolerate or like one another. Reasoning and education are the best tools to fight racism, not forced legislation. Silencing others' views will backfire by forcing such hatred and bigotry underground, where it tends to flourish, leading to a potentially uglier situation in the future (as with authoritarian crackdowns on Islamist movements during the 20th century, ultimately leading to the rise of radical Islam today). Letting the ignorant speak enables society as whole to at least be aware of the problem and use the necessary means to combat it.

I am not sure that it will not revert back. If minorities keep getting laws to protect them, it will soon tip the scales. White America is starting to feel like the minority. What does that do? Promote racism. Don't tell me that the black man gets a job before me because of his color and ask me to like it anymore than he would.
