there's a huge difference between what the white kids did and what the black kids did. the difference being the one was illegal, and one was just plain stupid (however not illegal). who cares what color anybody was in the this situation? the point is that some kid got the crap beat out of him and the people that did it should be fairly punished.
i don't think it gives anyone a "reason" to be racist. that doesn't even make any sense. that's like saying if one day mcdonalds decides to give away free burgers all day that that's a reason for me to be morbidly obese. nobody has a reason to be racist. it's either you're ignorant or not. it's how you were raised. nothing about this situation has opened my eyes up about "certain types of people". all it's shown me is that there are still as many dumb white and black people out there as there always has been.
ps: i'm mexican and gay so if you wanna talk about discrimination....

I watched Dr. Phil final week and that i think of he had a reverend on there who stated it is approximately racism, because of the fact those days(in this modern journey, or in the past the form i do no longer remember), a pair of white dudes knocked down his church submit- on purpose. the base line is this: what are those father and mom father and mom coaching the infants, why might the white individuals carry close nooses on a tree for God's sakes! Who taught them approximately that. the magnitude of the noose, harm a approaches worse than a beating. The dudes who beat up the white boy have been incorrect and merits to be punished, I agree one hundred%; yet remember, it is a 'white' city. so the black newborn who did no longer hit the boy gets 11 months in reformatory, with an all white jury and he remains there presently,Tthats what the hoopla is all approximately. some people say" oh, it replaced into approximately thugs beating on a white guy.:" in case you will tell the tale, tell the full ingredient and don't depart out any information.

People who are saying if you do the crime do the time seriously need to re-look at the case. how many times have a SCHOOL FIGHT ever lead to prosecution? and some said he was beaten near to death? reports said he was released from the hospital the same day and then attended a school event that night, guess he wasn't that hurt. Violence isn't the answer for anything and the fact that these boys were provoked doesn't excuse their behaviors. But everyone seem to forget that the white boy were fighting them as well, the only difference, the blacks won. Both sides of the fight should be held responsible because regardless of race justice needs to be equal.

Yes, it has. I am dismayed that so few see the core issue to be about the different charges that are being brought against people who commit similar crimes depending on their race.
Especially in light of the prosecutors threat to "make people disappear".
Particularly infuriating that people can gloss right over the attempted murder charge like it was a wrist slap.
Even when the issues is spelled out with quotes they give the nonsense answer "Beating is wrong and they should be punished". (!)
Then why do the white kids not get charged for beating blacks and pulling weapons on them?

justice is supposed to be color blind but it is not.if it were they would stop making excuses for crime because they happen to be black.if it were the other way around you would be hearing "hate crime" there is a lot wrong about this but the fact is 6 against one is cowardly and it was racist but people do not care if the attack is on a white person!!! sad but true!!! OJ SIMPSON is a perfect example of that--- no one in their right mind thinks he is innocent.he got off because they did not care about the victims who were white and that is the truth that no one talks about.i feel sorry for that town because people who do not know any better will assume they are racist.there probably are some that are but that is a fact anywhere. i imagine the people just want justice and i hope all these young people no matter their race learn to respect all people and to know violence is not the answer!!! hiding behind race is not either they should not expect or get any better or worse treatment based on race,no one should!! just because someone says something you may find offensive or not it does not give you the right to attack them!!! remember sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me!!!! people use that i am offended line because it is the only sad excuse they have it just makes no sense!!!

Jena 6 has done nothing to 'open my eyes' as you put it. I've known for a long time that racism is still alive and well in the US and it takes many forms, not just white -vs- black.

I'll agree that what the white kids did was Wrong and Immature, But on the same level the 6 boys that attacked one of the kids make them no better then anyone else. Whatever happend to just turning your cheek at a situation like that? But they need to learn from there mistake and find out that attacking someone is never the answer. And justice should be served.

People like the white trash in Jena and their equally trashy apologists around the country are racist to start with.
Sadly, it will be another couple of generations until the majority of these scum die off. Until then, all decent people can do is confront them--as they are doing with the demonstrations in Jena--and make it clear they can damn well stay in their trailer parks or whatever sewer they inhabit.

Let's look at the facts of this case.
1) White kids hang nooses in a tree. I am assuming this is to intimidate certain individuals. However there is no law against putting nooses in trees. So they are not charged. Is it wrong, hell yes and if it was my kid I would have dragged his/her butt over to each families house and made them apologize in person. I would also force them to volunteer in some community service program or get therapy.
2) Black kids assult one of the white boys and pummel him. Probably much deserved. But there is a law against this, it is assult and battery. I don't know the extent of the injuries, but I also heard attempted murder charges. So now that they broke the law we have this huge issue.
If this would have been white on white or black on black, this would not be an issue.
Racism is wrong. Period. Amen. Neither party is right here, unfortunately one party broke a law. Maybe the law needs to be changed to where putting a noose in a tree is a crime.

I don't know. I think the entire incident is a disgrace. No, I don't think it was right of those kids to beat up the other kid - regardless of race - but the noose thing was WAY out of line and there should be some serious consequences for those little morons, too.
As to those of you bleating about whites and conservatives always being racist, kiss my white butt. Two of my closest friends are Indians. My oldest brother's best friend for life is black. Guess what? I grew up in a white, conservative household. Quit making generalizations. I don't hold all liberals accountable for the stupid crap I see liberidiots post on here - it would be nice to see the same respect.
