Why do you oppose warrantless surveillance now if it was ok and proven successful in world war 2? We are in a war right now...the war on terror.....correct?

Hoping for some real cerebral responses here.

"If psychologists need to be present to keep detainees from being killed, then the only way for us to protest is to leave those situations."
APA leaders voted down a substitute motion that would have limited psychologists to "ameliorative psychological treatment of detainees that are deprived of adequate protection of human rights".
"Without the amendment that would call on our colleagues to not participate in these inhumane situations, it's all just words," said Bernice Lott, a member of the APA council of representatives.
Many within the APA believe that psychologists must remain present to act as safety officers.
"I just came here from Cuba," said APA council representative Colonel Larry James. "If we remove psychologists from Guantanamo, innocent people are going to die."
Beth Wiggins of the APA law division agreed.
"Walking away from these situations would make us passive bystanders," she said.

Recently a girl overdosed on caffeine and had to be hospitalized (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/health/dietfitness.html?in_article_id=475021&in_page_id=1774&ICO=HEALTH&ICL=TOPART)
it is obvious that caffeine is a dangerous and harmful drug with a high potential of abuse and no known medical use. it should be outlawed just like pot. it is a danger to our us all and will eventually cause the downfall of society.

I'm writing this question to inquire if a law against psychological coercion would be helpful in stemming cases of domestic abuse, and other forms of sophisticated manipulation that exist in our society?

If you agree, what type of issues or language would you suggest be included in such a provision under a state or local statute?

I know this question has been asked before, but i am confused about the funeral arrangement. Is this part of a living will? As i understand a living will gives directives on what i want to do if i am in a need of medical care such as no resusitate or no tubes and so on. But does it apply to funeral arrangement like who i want to have to do it or where i want and so on. I want to have a living will made but uncertaint as what it covers. thanks.

LOS ANGELES - An illegal immigrant who sought sanctuary in a Chicago church for a year to avoid deportation and separation from her 8-year-old American son was arrested Sunday, the church's pastor said.
Elvira Arellano was arrested before 3 p.m. outside Our Lady Queen of Angels church on L.A.'s historic Olvera Street where she had been speaking to reporters, said the Rev. Walter Coleman, pastor of Adalberto United Methodist Church in Chicago where she sought sanctuary.

Coleman said he was with Arellano when she was detained, but declined to provide other details.

"We're trying to determine her situation right now," he said.

It was unclear what law enforcement agency had taken Arellano into custody.

A call to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was not immediately returned.

The 32-year-old Arellano arrived in Los Angeles on Saturday, leaving her sanctuary for the first time in a year to campaign for immigration reform.

Arellano has become a symbol of the struggles of illegal immigrant parents and a source of controversy. She had said Saturday she was not afraid of being taken into custody by immigration agents.

"From the time I took sanctuary the possibility has existed that they arrest me in the place and time they want," she said in Spanish. "I only have two choices. I either go to my country, Mexico, or stay and keep fighting. I decided to stay and fight."

Arellano came to Washington state illegally in 1997. She was deported to Mexico shortly after, but returned and moved to Illinois in 2000, taking a job cleaning planes at O'Hare International Airport.

She was arrested in 2002 at O'Hare and later convicted of working under a false Social Security number. She was to surrender to authorities last August.

She sought refuge at the storefront church on Chicago's West Side Aug. 15, 2006. She had not left the church property until deciding to be driven to Los Angeles, Coleman said.Elvira Arellano was arrested before 3 p.m. outside Our Lady Queen of Angels church on L.A.'s historic Olvera Street where she had been speaking to reporters, said the Rev. I can see the use for smaller, tactical nukes whose purpose is to strike a military target, and does not decimate civilian populations or endanger the planet to any great extent.

I do not see the use for having a very large "total annihilation" nuclear weapons system. What is the point?

Are we trying to frighten everyone in the world? Doesn't that just make them want to build nukes of their own? This isn't the cold war, Mutually assured destruction doesn't work with terrorist states, they want to die.

Meanwhile, we are just scaring people with these things. What were we going to do with them? Nuke enemy cities, where the civilian populace is not a threat to us?

So what about China and the European Union, are we afraid of these people, so much so that we must be prepared to obliterate them?

I say it's completely nuts. And I am a conservative "hawk" who is pro-strong defense and border security.
