Because Argentina invaded a self-ruling territory of Great Britain whose people were of English decent and who had no desire whatsoever to be occupied by the Argentine military and Great Britain, a long time close ally to the USA, asked for intelligence information and political assistance.

There was an incident between Argentina and Chile few years before the Islas Malvinas' war that put both sides at the limit of war. Chile had strategic interest in the defeat of Argentina (limits of the south of both countries). Chile contemplated the possibility of Argentina inavding Chile after taking the islands. Besides, Chile always had a close relationship with the UK since the independence.

Presumably because Chile didn't much like Argentina. South Korea and North Korea aren't the best of buddies, yet they're right next to each other. If Chile wanted to see Argentina suffer then what better way than to back Britain?

Because Chile is jealous of Argentina since it is a better country.

Chile might just find it worrisome that Argentina was invading it's neighbors? Most countries get a little nervous when their neighbors attack other neighbors.

Because the Yanks & the Demon Spawn Thatcher gave Pincohet lots of weapon contracts, so he was obviously helpful towards the UK. I said UK & not England because it was the UK that was at war with Argentina NOT England. I'm not English & could've ended up fighting there myself.
