I heard "Lil Bush" say this and I don't see how it's possible! How can the economy be growing, and the deficit be shrinking when we have a huge amount of debt hanging over our heads. Does China really own our house? If so, why is that ok with anyone!!! How can we be the most powerful country in the world when we don't own it??

I'm listening to him speak right now, and as far as Iraq questions, the man is a master of obfuscation! There are no periods in his sentences, it's like he gets lost in the rhetoric and can't find his way out until he just runs out of steam!

To be fair, he has made sense on other topics like Guantanamo, and Transportation tax dollars.

If you think the Creator is actually a force for goodness and decency, then yes, you are fairly Deist. Because Yaweh of the Old Testament says things like this:

Exodus 22:16 -- 22:18
When a man seduces a virgin who is not engaged to be married, and lies with her, he shall give the bride-price for her and make her his wife. But if her father refuses to give her to him, he shall pay an amount equal to the bride-price for virgins.
Exodus 21:20,21
When a slaveowner strikes a male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies immediately, the owner shall be punished. But if the slave survives a day or two, there is no punishment; for the slave is the owner's property.

This guy says he wants the car and he is coming back to the US in the next couple months. He wants to send me $5000 now and $5000 every paycheck period until the car is paid for. If I don't give him any of my banking information and just ask for a cashier's check I can verify the check before I deposit it to make sure it is real. I don't see anything to lose. He has called me many times from Iraq. The caller ID has numbers that are land lines all over the US. He said that he first calls the US and then gets connected with me. Any thought?

Up until recently, I was not intimidated by others - always spoke my mind in any situation. This rarely led to confrontation, as my size and "presence" (as I've been told many times) discouraged that. As I get older, I'm finding it less desirable to be so bold, BUT - I still FEEL anger and/or frustration when in certain situations! How should I handle this? I will be posting several questions about different situations - HELP! - PLEASE, I really need to hear your knowledgeble suggestions!

WHAT SHOULD I DO IN THIS SITUATION:

At a crowded small park with several young kids. Guy and gal (both about 25 years old) enter park, and immediately release their large very hyper dog - - LEASH LAW (law, not rule) clearly posted nearby - NO dog is allowed in park unless leashed. I feel angry, uncomfortable for the kids safety, disrespected, and embarrassed as a law abiding adult seeing other adults directly breaking the law in front of my kids.

1) we went into iraq because of the claim of weapons of mass destruction. here we are 4 years later & we havent found a thing.

2) this was about taking over their oil.

3) iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 despite that liar george bush's claims.

4) this was also about cheany giving his friends power in iraq.

5) despite bush's claims the war has been won more troops are dying now than when the actual war happened.

6) another bush lie is that there is no civil war. who is he kidding?

7) bush hasnt done anything to those soldiers who have raped children & killing entire families. im supposed to support soldiers who have done such crimes?

face it america. bush misled the people into this war of lies & as usual you all sit there with your thumbs up your behinds instead of doing something about it. what happened to the brave americans from the 60's who fought injustices? i guess that went away & are now replaced with gutless americans who accepts everything done to them.

Under 18 USC, only insanity is an affirmative defense. In state criminal codes, there are other affirmative defenses, including "general justification", "justifiable force" and "self defense". Why do these additional affirmative defenses not exist in 18 USC as well?

Hi,
I'm currently in the National Guard as an American/German Citizien and a German friend of mine is really obsessed with the Marines.
He recently asked me if there's any chance he could get into the Marines.
I told him that you have to be an American Citizien to join any kind of American Military.
However I did wanna be on the safe side now and just ask if anyone does know a way for him to join the Marines!
I have to say for his benefit that he'd be a perfect Marine too... :D

OK, now that I have your attention I will ask a question about national health insurance in the US. (I am tired of seeing questions like "why do conservatives want to deny poor children health insurance, and for once I decided to respond in kind, to illustrate the absurdity.)

We know from experience in other countries that government control of health care results in rationing to save costs, and the waiting periods and "triage" that goes with it. Many times, procedures are not performed on patients because of their age. Even if one company does this in the US, there's an ability to "shop" for different insurance providers. If the government ran it, there's only one game in town.

Shouldn't we "fix" the health insurance system by REMOVING some of the distortion resulting from existing government regulation, rather than make it worse?

Nost importantly, what's YOUR solution?

Thanks.

Many people claim that Japan would have surrendered even without America using atomic weapons on two cities. If that's true, then why didn't they surrender after the first bombing? why did it take two, plus Russia's declaration of war, to finally get them to relent?

Thanks for any reasonable insights.

Why are people arguing that we should "go after the subprime lenders?" Why are we preventing foreclosures? That will raise borrowing costs for the rest of us.

Is "what will the government do to help stave off the loss of 'good' manufacturing jobs" really a tough question? It's what his audience wants to hear. That seems to me to be the easy question.

A tough question might be: why, in an economy that constantly provides you as a consumer with new and better products and services, and why, in a country that gives you, for free, an education through the 12th grade - i.e., calculus, physics, trig, a foreign language - do some people think they're entitled to receive a salary high enough to feed a family of four for spending seven hours a day on an assembly line performing a repetitive, menial task that anyone with a 2nd grade education could perform?

The truth is that the Iraqi government went on vacation in August to conceal the fact that there is no viable Iraqi government. The Sunnis left the government before parliament went on vacation.
So while this poorly timed vacation seems like a thoughtless slap
in the face of the American public and our troops, it is actually an attempt to deceive the American public, just before the reports to Congress in September, into believing that a political solution in Iraq is possible. A political solution is not possible, because there is no Iraqi government to formulate that solution.
We've been here before. There always appears to be progress in Iraq when the efforts in Iraq are questioned. Later we find out the truth. HERE WE GO AGAIN.
