I keep my Glock 22 loaded but no round in the chamber in my nightstand at night. But it's not my favorite, my wife is. Of course when i have a kid, my gun will be locked up.

I like a 36-26-36 as my bedside buddy. I'd hate to think I had to have a gun by my side. That would mean that I'm a (sky is falling scared dude), or that I need to move to a safer neighborhood.

A German shepherd (though not actually in the bed, he farts and sheds too damn much). A pistol isn't going to know who it's rightful owner is, and it's far less likely that a highly-protective dog can be stolen or used against you by an intruder.

At work I have a Colt .45 but at home beside my bed I have a German 1937 Luger 9mm. Man they shoot so accurately I surprised even myself not to mention all of the other gns and weapons I have. I even have a grenade launcher.
