I have a 28 degree curve of my spine, but they said it shouldn't keep me from doing anything. I just don't want to waste my time getting ready for it and go thru everything and then be told that I can't join because of my back!

Scoliosis greater than 20 degrees of misalignment is disqualifying for enlistment or appointment in the armed forces, whether or not it's symptomatic.

That 28 degree might(keyword:might) become a degree that will need surgery, so you might have surgery 1st and recover then you will get strong enough to join the military.I had surgery 8 months ago and I joined karate classes 2 months ago.

The only way to find out is to talk to a recruiter. However, since you are already recieving PT to deal with pain and flexabiity issues, I would doubt the military would accept you. The need for PT and possible specialists would make you non-deployable for combat as well as limiting your ability to be assigned to certain, remote bases. Also, since the condition was pre-exsisting, if it became more severe because of the requirements of military service, you would not be eligable for benefits from the VA if you were discharged because of it at a later date.

I do believe the degree if curvature is a DQ, but a waiver may or may not be recommended. No guarantees that it will go through, especially of you are looking at Navy or Air Force.

You can join only some particular branches of the armed forces... for example for the general service thats through NDA and CDS the medical grounds are strict. but, for the technical branches the case is not so. so, it depends on the type of entry you wish to apply.
