Another good observation!
Politicians keep trying to get the upper hand by starting to campaign a LITTLE earlier each cycle, and it keeps pushing it back.
I would like to see the major parties - or the legislature - do something to limit it. Preferably the parties, because I find legislation something people just try to work around.
But by the time the election DOES come around, we'll all be so sick of it, we won't even want to vote at all - for anyone.

To take headlines away from Bush.
For some Bush-haters, the 2008 campaign started in November 2000.

Apparently these supposed leaders don't have enough work to do back in Congress. That goes for Republicans and Democrats alike. If these clowns spent as much time doing their jobs as they do campaigning, maybe something would get done. That said, then lazy non-working candidates like Rudy Giuliani who only care about using their fame to gain power would be free to campaign with little resistance. With people like him out there with nothing better to do, the rest of the candidates are compelled to keep up. That is likely why it started so early.

Oh I agree. It's not just the campaign but the debates as well. I think it was because the candidates wanted to get a jump start. And then the majority of America is upset with the President and Congress. People are craving for a change but no one is saying anything different.

I think it started way to early....but with it starting this early you will find the real side of a person, because the amount of time, for them to finally break. I think they started doing this so early because everyone is depressed about the war, and economy, and I guess they figuare if you have people speaking about how they will change things in future years, that people will come out of depression because they feel it will get better.

I wish the 2008 election would've started 4 years ago. It started so early because we have an imbecile in office and we can't wait to put somebody (ANYBODY) else in.

Yes it did. We don't pay all those Senators and Congressmen to run around the country. I don't know why there are not laws preventing this, other than the unemployed like Giuliani and Romney would gain an unfair advantage.

The events commenced much earlier than usual, I believe, because people have been desperate for a change. By starting the debates, at least people can start discussing the future, rather than dwelling on a most depressing present.
