In an article in http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2007350453,00.html Elton John is quoted as saying,
"Instead they sit at home and make their own records, which is sometimes OK but it doesn’t bode well for long-term artistic vision."

Gee, that sounds like a rephrase of ,'if they make their _own_ records, they won't be buying -mine-!'

Elton John raised money for AlGore in 2000. How can one simultaneously be socialist and capitalist ?

Would you? If you could live with no laws, pay no taxes, pay for nothing, no government control, have true and absolute freedom to do as you like? You would only live with (or near) who you want to. Like your parents live 2 miles away, you live with your wife and kids. Your brother, sister, and best friends a little ways away, everyone important to you would live close by, so you can visit and share the love of a family. The thing is, you would need to do most things on your ownvor help from family, to hunt, farm, and gather for food. Build you own house, collect water, make clothing, etc, so everything you need and want, you or your family will make or do the action that's needed. Would you give every "thing" up? explain thoughts.

Do Federal EEO or any California statutes require that a school district publicly post a job opening before filling it?

The reason I ask is that a full-time teaching position was made vacant on a Saturday....and the position was offerred to someone on Monday morning.

Consider the losers of WW2, Germany and Japan most notable, the real starters of this war. Now we see Germany much richer than the UK and basically running the EU from its ball bags. We also see Japan as the second richest nation on the earth with share points that are 14,000+ against the DOW Jones which is 9000+. So... Did we really win? Or lose in the long run? Because right now in the economic show of things they're certainly not losers! Dont you think?

This weekend, my cell phone got stolen, along with cash and a bunch of credit cards(one was used for fraudulent purchases, but luckily I'm not liable). I'm hurt and upset, because it'd cost $200 to replace and my phone had all my phone numbers and meaningful photos on it. I have suspicion of who took my phone. I already filed a police report and had the service suspended.

My question is, what if I ran into the thief at a public place like say, a mall, and the thief had my phone? (my phone is VERY distinctive) And suppose I snatched it out of thief's hand, said "Thanks a lot, ******" and ran away with my stolen phone...would that be grounds for arrest?

Basically what I'm asking is -- can I get arrested for "stealing" back a stolen phone that is really mine?

if we can pull our troops out afterward and the violence doesn't start up again? If the only reason the violence is dropping is because we're there in large numbers to police Iraq, but it's a temporary drop because the insurgents are waiting us out instead of us destroying them for good, how can it possibly work? We won't know until we start leaving - what will we do if the violence picks up again? Another surge?

unattractive to Americans who would want to teach. I am NOT saying foreign teachers are not as good, and many do have a great command of English, but if you go to a teacher's workshop in Miami, you'd be shocked at some of the "English" the teachers are speaking. I don't know how they passed the essay test.
