Rep. Nancy Boyda [D - Kan.] walked out of the Armed Service Committee hearings when retired Gen. Jack Keane said that "progress is being made."

She later commented that "there was only so much (of that) that you could take until we had to leave the room for a while ...."

**
Also last week, a spokesman for Speaker Pelosi said the Democratic leaders "are not willing to concede there are positive things to point to" in Iraq.

**
Commenting on the possibility that Gen. Petraeus' Sept. report might be positive [referring to the surge strategy], House Majority Whip James Clyburn [D. - SC] said that such good news would be "a real big problem for us."

Who is it that has the 'tunnel vision'?? Doesn't this seem to you that the Democrats can't handle the possibility that civilization is making progress in Iraq?

What do the Dems want -- political power in America (if temporary) at any cost to the rest of the world?

{I actually read most of the responses you folk write.}

The sad thing is Democrats really do want to lose this war. Only because of how bad would they look for them if we won!Every time I hear a Liberal stating they are supporting our troops I tell them to prove it. It's very easy to prove they don't.! Truth being Liberals do support the war by supporting the Terrorist ..Doing every thing they can to make sure Terrorist win

I think Democrats and most Americans are just sick of hearing the same old spin on a failing situation. We were always “turning a corner” or “making progress” in the past, yet things just got worse.

The political solution in Iraq is obviously not coming together and appears to be headed in the wrong direction. We’re arming Sunnis to fight al Qaeda and arming Saudi Arabia while the Shiite militias are refusing to disarm. Now the Shiite militias have moved into the areas in Baghdad that have just been cleared of Sunni insurgents.

People are just tired of hearing excuses for why the situation is not improving or of being told that the situation is improving and seeing it just as bad, month after month. There is no exit strategy and that is what the American people really want.

opposite to opinion, the Democrats at the instant are not attempting to make us lose, we've not something to lose, we won the conflict; we in simple terms can not save the peace! This has progressed right into a non secular Civil conflict between 2 rival sects of an identical faith. we can not take components, so why are we nonetheless there? it is the questions that the Democrats are asking. Why are extra American lives being spent on a non secular conflict which could be won by using the waring events. perchance in the event that they arrive to a pair contract, we could help them rebuild yet till then we are helpless to do something different than to objective & shelter the harmless civilian inhabitants. we don't look waiting to try this the two, even nevertheless we are trying.

How can Democrats be losing in Iraq? According to many con posts the military is all GOP conservatives. They don't want Congress to run the war from Washington and when they don't the cons complain that not enough is being done.

No matter what Pelosi says even if she said that we were triumphant and they were throwing flower petals before us as we marched down main street Baghdad there would be some silly con saying she is out of touch or she should leave that to the people over there.

She controlls the purse strings and the war is up for refunding in a month or so. I wouldn't recommend you cross her or your little war will be run without funding or by donations from cons and their rich benefactors.

Here's the problem with your so typical Republican "patriotic" posturing.

1-We have been told for years that things were going great in Iraq, while it was obvious to every sane person on the planet that they weren't.

2-The "surge" is working so well that the people of Baghdad have one hour of electricity a day, because of all the attacks by insurgents on the infrastructure, which have increased since the "surge: began.

3-Gen.Petraeus'' September report will be "positive" no matter the real situation on the ground. That has benn the MO of the military since day one of this war.

4,The insurgency has by no means been quelled. It has simply shifted in area and focus.

5,The Maliki government is in imminent danger of collapse. The Sunni's have begun to leave it,and Maliki's Shia backers are unhappy with him. Both sides accuse him of pandering to the other.

6.BushCo has managed to take us to the brink of a regional war.Iran is supporting insurgents who are killing American troops.as is Syria and Saudi Arabia(a supposed ally who our government would like to sell arms to).

In short, how are the Democrats contributing to this mess?

And give me something better than"they don't support the war".

no, they aren't. i think they would like to see a little responsibility for the misguided strategies and plans. i think that they would like to see a change in direction for the us forces. i think they would like to see more progress and responsibility taken by the iraq government. i think they feel duped by having supported the president's rush to invade with faulty equipment. they supported his faulty intelligence and backed his position as president, when they okayed the war. bush hasn't admitted that he might have made a mistake. maybe they think that they made a mistake supporting him.

as far as the tunnel vision statement, maybe bush and the republican party can't handle the possibility that civilization isn't making progress in iraq.

We won in Iraq. Mission Accomplished. If you want to create a new mission--giving them total civil order-- that's a mission that cannot be accomplished. As the real Spock said, "Those who ahte and fight must stop themselves-- otherwise it is not stopped." Only Iraqis can create civil order. We should not be occupiers. We've spilled too much bl00d for a people who do not appreciate our sacrifice, and in fact, think it's okay to kill us.

What victory did you expect in Iraq? Did you expect to level the place and the people would just roll over and play dead?
To quote a movie. "(quintus) A people should know when they are defeated. (Maximus) would you Quintus, would i." GLADIATOR

It's just that they've been saying the same thing for the past four years but no progress has been made.

And the Dems don't have to try to lose in Iraq, the neocons are doing a fine job of that all by themselves.

Democrats can not get over the fact that they lost the election to Bush! They HATE Bush so much that they have tunnel vision and can not see anything but ways to put Bush down!
