Bush can never run for President again. He wants the USA to succeed in Iraq. He says that the consequences of failure are enormous. If that is true, then why not do anything it takes to win? Why not "go for broke"?
If so much is at stake here for the country, and if Bush's legacy is at stake, then why not put all available resources (within reason, as some resources must be saved for unplanned situations) into the Iraq War.
It is a long shot to think that adding 22,000 more troops will help. In fact, right now, things appear to be getting worse (and they were already pretty bad. So why not order 75,000 more troops? Why not hire thousands more independant contractors for security?
Shouldn't Bush just do whatever he can do within his power to get the job done?
