Nobody believed it. Not even the White House. This is one aspect that most people don't understand. Bush was paving the way for a now defunct, or at least postponed, gas pipeline through Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as opening up the Iraqi oil fields to private investors. The Enron debacle was in large part responsible for the shelving of the gas pipeline (for now) and the Iraqi Congress is currently considering the oil privatization bill staring down the barrel of U.S. guns. Hopefully, the Iraqi Congress will cede to the wishes of the Iraqi people and tell Bush and Co. to shove it!

I do. Go to www.snopes.com and try in their search engine WMD, Saddam, Iraq or any other word th get to what politicians concluded years before we were attacked or attacked Iraq and Afghanistan. You will see a lot of lying either back then or now. Remember what you are being fed through the news media today and by the politicians is the results of the eternal internal struggle between Democrats and Republicans for longevity in office and control of the Congress and the money bag. Do you think you are being represented by those you elected to do so? We do not even register on their priority list

I do. Saddam violated 17 resolutions, kept kicking the inspectors out, and after we went in, found all of those mass graves there is no doubt that he was a big threat to the whole world. Hillary and Bill was right about him, so I guess you're calling them fools too?
"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
- Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002

Whether Saddam was a actually a threat or, not is irrelevant. The fact is he broke many UN guidelines and right or, wrong did everything within his power to make the world believe he either had WMDs or, was developing them.
The 'lies' - if they were lies - originated with him. He got what he had coming either way.

I did, but only in an indirect way. Of course Saddam was not going to attack us. But after 9/11 we could not afford to risk having a known madman who hates America and has used WMD and has supported terrorism financially to rule a country in the Middle East.
And I hope the fools you refer to are the fools that didn't know or forgot what I just typed above.
PS mckenziecalhoun above has it right on!

yes, along with most of the rest of the middle-east, most of africa and half of asia, and large sections of europe as well.
this has nothing to do with whether or not we should have gone to war in Iraq, but read the 9/11 Commission Report and open your eyes. Saddam's hate for us was stronger than his hate for Bin Laden. He sponsored terrorism and had ambitions of proleferation and regional dominance. which is not to say he was the only anti-american dictator in the world.
i just dont get why people see it necessary to defend pre-9/11 Iraqi-policy in order to criticize Bush. Believe it or not, you can actually criticize both.

Sandy Berger and Bill Clinton. Go back and read congressional testimony. They were recommending regime change as early as 1997.
