since you are already in the states ?
you must be switching status ? the interview will be done in the state that you are already in ,
Important Considerations
Travel abroad while a change of status application from within the US is pending is seen as an abandonment of the application and will affect your student SEVIS status. If you plan to leave the US while the application is pending, consult an OIP advisor. You will be instructed on how to cancel the change of status application and obtain a new I-20 based on a new SEVIS record for travel.

US visa are no longer issued in the US. You must leave the country to apply and interview for a visa. While you do not have to have your interview in the country that you are citizen of, you must be able to show significant ties to the country in which you are applying. That said, it is possible to request a change of status through USCIS while in the US, though you may be more likely to succeed if you go through the normal application process out of country. See below:

Note: If you are a Canadian citizen, then you are much better off returning to Canada and applying for a visa there - the change of status route is lengthy, more expensive, and disappoints a lot of people.

earnings could proceed once you receive your visa. Are you making plans to trip? Getting a job interior the US isn't that user-friendly and you may first get married and look ahead to the workplace work until now you are able to stick to for a job (nicely you are able to stick to yet with out the right workplace work your possibilities of looking somebody who's prepared to attend isn't reliable). Being a pupil would not help. Getting somebody to cosponsor you will prepare perplexing as they are agreeing that in case you fall unwell, have an accident, prefer any means examined suggestions that they are going to pay for it. And the US government will carry them to that! And the settlement final for something of your existence until you meet different standards first. Sorry!

Since you are already here, you should be able to go to your local immigration office to do the interview. If you were still overseas, you would have to go to the US embassy/consulate there.
