I see a lot of folks claming to be liberal and I believe that most the people claming this are younger than 30. How liberal are you? Are you liberal because hollywood says it is cool? Liberals, say the conservatives push their agenda on them. I say the liberals do the same thing. What makes you a liberal?

I am a liberal who follows the news closely every day.
I have no idea what Rosie O'Donnell's political views, nor do I care. The only place I ever see her mentioned is by ranting rightwingers here on Y!A.

Prior to the invasion of Iraq, conservatives argued that even though we couldn't be sure Saddam had weapons, the fact that it might be true was enough to mandate action. In other words, we couldn't wait for a smoking gun.

Now, conservatives on this board seem to be arguing that we should do nothing about global warming because, though we know the consequences could be catastrophic, we can't be absolutely sure it's caused by humans (only 90%). In other words, they say we have to wait for a smoking gun.

I'm confused. Which is it?

Note: I understand that essentially all conservative politicians accept the danger of GW. I suppose my question is then addressed to the select extremists on this board.

My boyfriend will be going to boot camp on April 16th in Parris Island. I live in Charlotte, NC and I want to be very supportive. What else can I do besides letter? And what is the whole process involved in joining the Marines? He has said 13 wks in boot camp, 10 days home and then 1 1/2 mos. in Camp Pendelton. Then he will get stationed stateside most likely because he is OCS, has a college degree and is choosing finance/budgeting/accounting as his path. Where might they station him and can I move there to be with him after training? I am trying to be prepared as best one can. I love him and after 6 yrs together I am realizing he needs and wants this. I want to show him I support him now as always. Any advice?

Listen to him, he politicizes everything and then claims he doesn't but everyone does it to him...The retard claims he likes up or down votes, then pulls his nominations so that he can wait for Congress to leave the building for 2 days so he can sneak them in...He wants to spread democracy but hates it in this country...he claims to love the troops yet 95% of his defense spending goes to the pockets of contractors and the troops end up getting the shaft...He cuts VA benefits...He whines about Nancy Pelosi being in Syria and opening dialogue yet the 4 people from his party(3 right before, one right after) never get mentioned...Being a Bush supporter really must make you easily manipulated I guess(unless you're one of the ones making millions of tax payers money in corporate welfare)

What do you have to say for yourselves now that there is yet another example of a REPUBLICAN member of Congress going to Syria. Darrell Issa ( R-CA) met with President Assad today, less than 4 days after Virginia Republican Frank Wolf, Pennsylvania Republican Joe Pitts and Alabama Republican Robert Aderholt made the same trip. Where is the hue and cry?

I keep hearing about this debate over the Confederate flag. I want to make this very clear: That flag does NOT represent racism. It does NOT represent a hatred of the U.S. It does NOT represent the thought that blacks should be slaves. It is a sign of heritage. Blacks celebrate Qwanza to celebrate their heritage. Independence Day celebrates America's heritage. Yet, we try to celebrate ours, and we're branded as racist. Why? I still salute the ol' Stars and Bars out of respect to my ancestors. They fought in a cause they believed in. In the South, every government building should fly the Confederate flag OVER the U.S. flag in respect.

What are things I should stay away from on a base? As in, I've read and heard alot about the "rumor mills"...as a rule of thumb, are these certain people or are they just anyone? Also I've read that once the guys are gone, that lots of wives cheat, blah blah blah, and I don't want stuff being spread about me that isn't true. I know this isn't every wife, and I'm not saying that, just wanting to know what groups to stay away from. Hope this makes sense, haven't slept all night! Thanks!
