I am a liberal who follows the news closely every day.
I have no idea what Rosie O'Donnell's political views, nor do I care. The only place I ever see her mentioned is by ranting rightwingers here on Y!A.

I've been wondering the same thing myself. I've come to the conclusion that many cons view Rosie as the personification of their stereotypical view of a liberal democrat. That's why they latch onto every word she says, because they think she speaks for all liberal democrats.

Right wingers aren't the only position interested in Rosie. I have heard from certain players like Nick Lidstrom, who is a defenseman that Rosie is a very interesting person. Other people, like Martan Brodeur, a goalie, and Martin Erat, a left-wing, agree with this statement. Thinking only right-wingers are interested is somewhat close-minded.

Look at how many responses you got to this. Whenever someone is in the arena of ideas, and Rosie is, (T.V., in the news, the Donald Trump exchanges, etc.) she's fair game. She says something stupid she needs to be called on it. For people answering this question who say they don't understand is, I think, a little disingenuous.

Divert attention from the repub scandals. Rosie just happens to be the diversion for this week. Next week it will be someone else that has nothing to do with this corrupt Government. Rove talking points. He's very good at diverting blame,to another pie in the sky manufactured "problem".

I'm not obsessed with the fat cow. I don't watch the view. The fact that she is among the rest of the nut job conspiracy theorists who believe that the USA killed our own people on 9/11 and that there was not a terrorist attack, just shows what a nut case she is.

Seems strange with war in Iraq, issues of health care, taxes, the environment and education right wingers can only attack Rosie and not deal with real news.

I don't care what she thinks either. But it is sort of like the hate and ridicule that liberals heap on Hannity, Bortz and Rush.

Rosie and the others have HUGE audiences that DO listen to them.

Some form their opinions based only on what they hear from their own special opinion leader.

And so, they all get attacked.

It isn't just "right wingers". It is the left wingers also. If you are being totally honest in your observations.

Ah! But you forget, despite the FACT that neither you nor I, nor anyone I knows watches or listens to her, or, indeed, has the slightest idea what she says, they KNOW we only think what we do because we're mindless sheep who believe everything she says just because she says it.

That's the only kind of reasoning the wing-nuts can grasp.

Reality-based thinking be damned!

(You read my mind, I was just wondering about this myself -- I never hear or see any reference to her whatsoever, except on this site, where I'm continually told I'm her follower.)

well she is used to stimulate conversation on a show the View with Barbara Walters, she does represent a segment of the American population that are suspicious of the mainstream media. folks do watch her for the same reasons they read the tabloids.

i'm a conservative when the media talks about her, i walk out the room. no celebrity should have a say in politics that is taken as gospel. its all a joke. her and Donald Trump can stay in Hollywood for all i care. it just amazes me how people actually believe her. and sometimes her opinion mimics liberal thinking
