"Besides Starr, five other independent counsels are currently conducting investigations. Four of those focus on the Clinton Administration. The combined costs of those four inquiries and the Starr probe now comes to $79.3 million."

http://www.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/stories/1999/04/01/counsel.probe.costs/

Yet...

The investigation into 9/11 where 3,000 Americans DIED, was originally appropriated ONLY 3 MILLION!!

"The White House brushed off a request quietly made last week by the 9-11 Commission Chairman Tom Kean, the Republican former governor of New Jersey, to boost his budget by $11 million...The panel has until the end of May 2004 to complete its work, but it will spend the $3 million it was originally allotted by around August 2003 — if it doesn't get the supplement."

http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,437267,00.html

So...what I am seeing here, is that an investigation into 9/11 was not nearly as important as a President's sex life? Am, I right?

Do this just before you sit down to eat. Remember that most of the food on your table was pick, washed and packed by an undocumented worker.

As an Englishman i find it amazing that Americans keep saying the USA is a rich country, but they do not fund anything properly.
Take their army-they give their soldiers guns that dont shoot straight and helicopters with faulty missiles, resulting in hitting more "goodies" than "baddies"
Also their schooling system teaches history using only "Hollywood" methods because the truth is more expensive.
Just a small point, but valid i think.

Does guarenteed security cost loss of education and freedom? Is dissidence expressed through education the main security threat facing Homeland Security? Can we keep peace by force through accepting our need to conform and obey?

My daughter was with a friend who squirted washable window paint on the window of a car belonging to a girl who was in a fight with my daughter. The owner of the car(we are not sure of ownership) or her friend called and made a police report. Later that nite these girls called my daughter to meet them so they could talk. My daughter did not go alone or meet them in a private place. Good thing too because one of them stabbed her in the face. now that is just to give the highlights of the story. The detective in the stabbing case called my daughter and told her that if she wanted to pursue charges on the assult that she would be chgd with criminal vandalism. That did not sound right to me. #1 the total damage to the car is a $5.00 carwash #2 she is not the one who squirted the paint #3 how does one case have anything to do with the other. If anyone knows AZ laws on vandalism please respond. she works w/special needs ppl and would lose her job if she was convicted of a crime

Have you noticed that, when asked certain questions, just skewed different ways, both liberal and conservatives will answer using almost the exact same phrasing?

For example, "They don't rely on facts. They are only trying to get votes/power. They have no respect for the Constitution. They have no respect for Americans/America. They are ruining everything."

Why do you think that is?

I know 4 people currently on remand for beating teen, but unfortunately, that teen died in hospital of head injuries, charges had been upgraded to murder. Those 4 guys and I are cool. No criminal record, but truth is, one of the accused was attacked and shouted for help, and the 3 came to his rescue.

What will stop him from saying he has the ultimate authority and say "I want the $92 billion for the wars and I am going to ignore the part about the timetable for withdrawing troops?" Nothing? Under the Patriot Act, he has every right in the world (or, at least the White House, that is) to do so! What can Congress do then? Impeach him? I would say yes. Your thoughts?

if we continue to fight insurgents in iraq, we continue to create more enemies and the conflict continues. if we pull out, then we have 3/4 of the world who hates us and is threatening to bomb us coming over here and causing chaos. living in a democracy, insurgents have this ability. what should be done?is a 3rd option necessary? i mean, would it be better to start making ammends with iran and increase sympathy so our own borders are better protected today and in the future. how to increase sympathy? in 2003 iran offered to help out with iraq, we denied assistance. we americans are very arrogant and do not listen to their needs. should we begin listening to iran a little more?

Hello everyone. I'm currently 13 months into a 3 year contract in the Army. I spent 4 months in Iraq as an infantryman. About a month ago I was seriously injured when a booby trap in a house blew up killing 3 of my friends. 5 more soldiers were seriously wounded including me as the explosion was so large it brought most of the house down and the one next door. I was tossed about 10 feet. I was knocked out, took a lot of shrapnel, fractured a bone in my back, and a lot of other minor injuries. I've spent almost a month at home trying to heal but I'm still having serious back pain and a certain amount of difficulty dealing with what happened on an emotional level. I'm not sure I want to continue to serve in the military and definitely not in the infantry. What options do I have? I appreciate any and all answers.
