"Besides Starr, five other independent counsels are currently conducting investigations. Four of those focus on the Clinton Administration. The combined costs of those four inquiries and the Starr probe now comes to $79.3 million."

Yet...

The investigation into 9/11 where 3,000 Americans DIED, was originally appropriated ONLY 3 MILLION!!

"The White House brushed off a request quietly made last week by the 9-11 Commission Chairman Tom Kean, the Republican former governor of New Jersey, to boost his budget by $11 million...The panel has until the end of May 2004 to complete its work, but it will spend the $3 million it was originally allotted by around August 2003 — if it doesn't get the supplement."

So...what I am seeing here, is that an investigation into 9/11 was not nearly as important as a President's sex life? Am, I right?

My figures are accurate, and TIME and CNN are respectable enough to get their dollars are accurate, research it yourself. And, let's be honest is Fox really going to run anything defaming Republicans, not likely.

But it still doesn't bother you that SO much less was spent for the lost lives?
Is that really loving America?

NVAJack...you may say that they were finding the "right" people in that area, but if you refuse to investigate the incident fully, well...how do you know you are going after the right people. Pakistan had more involvement than we were told, and the radicals send their fighters to train there. So, accept the pre-packaged story if you want...but I sure don't.

If you want an alternative to the Penthouse Forum letters, read Kenneth Starr's "The Starr Report". (Should be rated: XXX) You can then get an idea how badly the government wants to investigate our own sex lives, the books we check out at the public libraries, what subject matter we google, and let's not forget our new ID cards with thumbprint included, within 5 yrs. Big Brother's budget to pry into our lives is going to be much larger in scale as compared to how much they spent to check out Clinton's sex life (consensual sex, at that). Also, Bush didn't even want the 9-11 Commission to originally be formed in the first place. Now you know where their priorities lie.

You must have forgot why Clinton was investigated. You stated it was over his sex life. The Clinton's were investigated over some shady land dealings. During that investigation it was discovered that President Clinton had a sexual relationship with a White House intern in the Oval office, when asked about it in a court of law, President Clinton lied under oath, and a perjury investigation was then also lumped into the Whitewater invetigation. Clinton could have saved the government a lot of money by just telling the truth while under oath.

When you are trying to make this argument, you need to pull the full figures involved. You probably have close to the totals for the Starr investigation, perhaps missing some of the cost of congress being tied up to prosecute and then attempt to convict.

When it comes to 9/11 you have to include the cost of investigation of all peoples and allegations, the attempts to prosecute, and the attempts to convict. That would include the BILLIONS spent attempting to track down the terrorists in Afghanistan, Sudan, Syria... Then you need to include the bases security of Guantanmo...

You really have spun this just the way you want and ignored the real connections and issues.

The Clinton investigation was cheaper because he was here, but it would of been cheaper still if:
1) Hillary and Bill had been compliant with laws when investing.
2) Bill and Hillary had actually thought that it was more important to be honest and obey US laws instead of worrying about their polls.

I know what happened with Clinton. I was there. I feel sorry for him because religion has a lot to answer for in terms of how they treat people's private lives. I think the amount of money that is being spent is the government's way of trying to make up for religion's inadequacies in being able to sort out the way forward in these cases. Religion means "retie". It's supposed to be able to bind up the broken-hearted so that things look better ahead. The politicians have a difficult job keeping up with all the infrastructure that is created when people need to feel safe because religion has scared them silly. Then the politicians get the blame.

Don't even bother paying attention to figures. It will only upset you.

So! I'll say it. I am a fiscal conservative who thinks it was a waste of money to do this. I also still think Clinton was an idiot for lying under oath to protect himself from future lawsuits. His sex life could have been used against him in the future and that is why he really lied. It amazes me that people fail to see this connection. Remember that other allegations? Where the hell did he get his law degree? He should have pleaded the fifth and be done with it. He thought he could smooth talk his way out of it because he thinks that the American people are idiots and that lying under sworn oath is not a big deal. Sorry, I happen to think the president of all people, should obey the laws he has sworn to uphold regardless of what it is. By the way, can you site references from sources other than the liberal media.

If there was forensic and video evidence of Bill banging Monica, they wouldn't have had to investigate as much.
