i think he should be impeach....the report found the FBI is collecting information on innocent Americans far removed from any investigation, and is sharing that information with a variety of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies including foreign governments. As a result, innocent Americans' information is entered into numerous databases without justification and without proper oversight over who has access to that information or how that information is being used. Congress must take action and reestablish the constitutionally mandated checks and balances by requiring court approval for access to sensitive and personal information.

Bush can veto Congressional measure that comes across his desk. Congress won't have the support to put conditions in the spending bill because too many are fearful that it would be political suicide to have a timetable that is made public. If they would go back and re-write it to make the timetable a Top Secret condition, it may have some weight to it. The Patriot Act has nothing to do with spending legislation and wouldn't be an acceptable connection if it was used as an excuse for overseas expenditures. Again, there isn't sufficient time to impeach the President, even if they wanted to. Also it would be insane to do so during a war. Another thing is who would be the new President? Dick Cheney!! Think about it.

IF what the questioner is saying about the Patriot act is accurate, My thoughts are that the Patriot Act was passed by congress. Therefore Congress would be to blame for it. If he is to be impeached then anyone who voted for the bill should go right along side of him.
BTW I am a democrat just calling it as I see it.

What is going to stop Bush from using the Patriot Act in response to the emergency funding bill in Congress ?
Military action in Iran---pretty much scheduled to rock and roll by the end of next week !! After that begins-- THEN will come the "power play" with Congress !! And, unless they capitulate-- they will be deemed unAmerican because ot the ongoing "crisis" of that moment !!!
So, it will be at THAT moment that the Patriot Act will come into full swing because it will be the moment that it was prepared for !!!!

"Under the Patriot Act, he has every right in the world (or, at least the White House, that is) to do so!"
Really? What section deals with that power?
